Actually, the metro Detroit population is about the same - maybe a bit larger - versus metro Atlanta, and incredibly enough also has places, sites, entertainment, and people (and hockey).
Though I will say Atlanta also has a viable economy and somewhat less pronounced crime. :P Though I guess Atlanta had that Olympic Park incident, so who knows, heh.
Now that I'm semi-stuck in the area (owning the house) maybe I see things a little differently. I'm still not very fond of Michigan, so I can't really fault you for that, but that doesn't detract from the fact that there's quite a bit -- and as you said, many fun people -- in the southeast Michigan area.
I know... I just was sooo excited about Chicago, meeting new furs, learning new places, being FAR away from home. Example, when my dad found out his first idea was that I could come home every weekend. Overall, I am still excited, just not as much. Thanks ^^
