ok pregnancy isn't a disease...so what exactly needs to be cured? sexually transmitted disease has rocketed with sex "education" and birth control, which isn't even 100% guaranteed anyway

Actually, there are quite a few, but I'd need resources which I don't have access to right now to give you a more complete list. I'll get back to you in about a month or so with that list.

...You do know those are a myth and no actual anthropological evidence exists to make the case they may have once existed? And in the mythos they are attached to, they - and their rulers - are often subjugated/conquered/romanced into submission by male heroes.

Next.

I love this comment. Thank you for this. I wasn't sure why this was even an argument in the first place.

Try telling that to the white Europeans who were abducted into slavery by North African slave traders in times past. Tell that to the White Zimbabweans who have had all their possessions confiscated by the state and redistributed to Black farmers.

There are examples of real acts of racism against whites. You need to take off your blinkers of the USA being the whole world.

They're leaving out significant patches of the story. Those farmers acquired their land after the majority black population was stripped of their possessions and land and in some cases lives by a minority of powerful whites, who fought the liberation of the blacks in often bloody ways. Frankly, if a subjugated people rise up, I'm not surprised, but you can't just act like it was an isolated incident without context. "White slavery" as it's called, usually referred to sex trafficking----of mostly women. King Leopold II of Belgium, for example, gutted the Congo and strip mined it of its resources as well as seizing and killing millions of Congolese people.

Hmmm. I really need to do more reading up on this, I think. I know that sex trafficking (particularly with children) is still rampant all over the goddamn place.

......And do you live in either of these places?

alicephilippa May 3 2012, 21:28:29 UTC
That is relevant how?

Whether or not I live in the places concerned does not negate the well documented evidence that such slavery and racism occurred.
