ok pregnancy isn't a disease...so what exactly needs to be cured? sexually transmitted disease has rocketed with sex "education" and birth control, which isn't even 100% guaranteed anyway

Abortions are always unsafe for one of the individuals involved. Just like my slavery example, I don't need to be one of the individuals involved to say that something is an injustice. Hell, if that was the case, there would be no laws or crimes at all, since the government isn't one of the people involved.

As for her other comment, I didn't address it because it wasn't part of what I was discussing with her at that moment. But if you want me to, I will. I just follow science. It's a human life, distinct from its progenitors, set on a path that, uninterrupted, will result in live birth. It doesn't have to have the ability to think or reason. A newborn doesn't do much thinking or reasoning, either.

One of the individuals? There's only one individual - the woman. The only other thing involved is a clump of cells that is either a baby or a potentially dangerous burden, depending on how the woman feels about it. As it is inside her, it is her choice. Her body, her choice. It's as simple as that.

I see elsewhere that you're a man? It's incredibly arrogant of you to think that you have any say in this whatsoever. Until men have to undertake the risks, pain and burdens involved in being pregnant, they don't have a say in the matter.

A clump of cells that is genetically distinct from its progenitors and growing into a fully-capable individual, albeit slowly. That's another human being. We've tried to dehumanize people before. I think we even fought a war as a result.

"Her body, her choice" sounds nice, but it's not just her body.

Oh, and it's incredibly arrogant for you to think that I can't have an opinion on murder because I'm a man... arrogant and sexist.

It isn't another human being. It's a clump of cells that has the potential to grow into a human being. It's a clump of cells that needs the woman to support it in order to survive. It is HER decision whether or not to continue that support.

You have no opinion on it because you will never be put into this decision. And there's no such thing as sexism against men, so don't even try to derail this conversation into that.

Since you believe that there's no such thing as sexism against men, I can tell that you're not capable of understanding reason or common sense. Sorry to have wasted my time on you.

Since I'm bowing out, I'll leave it to you to give your concluding remarks.

You really are steeped in that male privilege of yours, aren't you? Poor men, they have it so hard.

There is such a thing as sexism towards men. Just because it isn't as prevalent as sexism towards women doesn't mean it doesn't exist. This would almost be like saying there's no such thing as racism towards whites.

Anyways -

"In 2009, Planned Parenthood provided 4,009,549 contraceptive services (35% of total), 3,955,926 sexually transmitted disease services (35% of total), 1,830,811 cancer related services (16% of total), 1,178,369 pregnancy/prenatal/midlife services (10% of total), 332,278 abortion services (3% of total), and 76,977 other services (1% of total), for a total of 11,383,900 services. The organization also said its doctors and nurses annually conduct 1 million screenings for cervical cancer and 830,000 breast exams ( ... )

Because there is no racism against whites. Racism = privilege + power. POCs do not have the power in society. It is impossible to be racist against white people, and impossible to be sexist towards men, because men are the privileged class.

No, it is not impossible, and it does happen. Men are discriminated against, definitely not on a larger scale like women are though. In certain job fields (i.e. elementary teachers because children is "women's work"), there's a strong guarantee that it's the woman that will be getting custody of the child after divorce, men are more likely to be conscripted into the military (women are typically exempt from military conscription even where men are forced into battle and risk injury, emotional repercussions, and death), Males are more often victims of violent crime, as well as of legalized violence such as corporal punishment.Sexual assault of males is often taken less seriously, etc ( ... )

And why do you think they're "barred" from certain occupations? Because those occupations are considered to be "female-based" occupations, and since it's "wrong" for a man to be considered female, there's a stigma attached to men who wish to pursue what are perceived by society to be feminine pursuits. It all goes back to misogyny and being anti-woman. And women get custody of children after divorce for the same reason; because it's seen as the woman's responsibility to raise the children. Raising children isn't a "male" thing to do, because it's considered feminine, and for a man to be feminine is bad.

And white people (speaking as a white person here), it's impossible for people to be racist towards whites. White people have never been subjected to slavery, colonisation, and dehumanisation by POCs. White people have the majority of the balance of power in society. Ergo, no, it's impossible to be racist against whites.

Right, because dictionary definitions are the end all and be all and are all written from the perspective of a not!privileged individual.

Oh wait.

And your examples aren't applicable at all. Name one society anywhere in history where women have ruled over men. Name one society where POCs have enslaved white people. Name one society where men have been completely subjugated, told that they don't have control over their own bodies, and were treated as chattel and property. Name one society where white people were completely subjugated, told that they didn't have control over their own bodies, and were treated as chattel and property. I'll wait.

Racism and sexism both include oppression. POCs have never oppressed white people. Women have never oppressed men. Therefore, your examples? Don't meant a damn thing.

Wow. One. And that's out of how many thousands of years of history and how long ago was that now? Hmmm. Name one MODERN society where men are subjugated and treated/respected less than women. Bet you can't come up with one because it doesn't exist.
