(OOC: Occurs the morning after this.)

[Death is a dreamless sleep that makes her tips and edges tingle with cold, an experience that leaves her thirsting for air. She is abstractly aware of her final moments, as if she watched it through a kaleidoscope: Mukuro's grin appears in slivers, red soaks everything, stars wink away her vision, and the taste ( Read more... )

[Jecht doesn't even bother replying on the phone. He's over at Garnet's house as fast as his legs can carry him, but he does not look happy when she comes to answer the door.]

[Garnet, for her part, looks absolutely miserable. There's no hiding the fact that she has been crying, and the sight of Jecht causes more tears to well up in her eyes.]

[Honestly, his plan was to get angry and lecture her as soon as the door opened, but he sees those tears and stops short. Instead, he settles on a deep, irritated sigh as he draws her into a tight hug.]

"...Stupid."

[Trembling arms find their way around Jecht's thick torso when he pulls her close, and she buries her face against his chest. There is nothing dignified about her tears today; the girl is flat-out sobbing.

And about that lecture? She already gave it to herself. Garnet simply nods her head when he calls her stupid, not trusting herself to speak up to agree with him.]

[Still lies in a heap on her bed, trying her best to cry silently so as not to disturb the other residents of their home. She doesn't notice Pamela at first, but hastily wipes her eyes once she does.

And now she's going to pretend like those tears Pamela clearly must have seen were a mirage; she actually makes an effort to smile at her.] ...G...good morning.

[Ceiling Pamela sees everything. But really you can't fool a ghost here...sort of.]

You died?

[Garnet pushes herself up off the mattress, dabbing at her eyes and nose with a tissue before finding the strength to speak.] Yes. I...I died.

I...meddled in affairs that were none of my concern. As a result, Mukuro killed me.

[A long, loaded silence follows.] ...what happened?

I brought it upon myself. [Of course she takes on the blame for the incident. Still rather shaken, her explanation is hurried and has several holes in it that she doesn't bother patching up.] I...wanted to help someone...his name is Mukuro and...we spoke several times and met for lunch but... [She shudders before continuing.] He stabbed a trident through my chest.

[There's a momentary stunned silence Crowe has the unfortunate luck of living with that guy.]

Wh-what? Mukuro! That bloody sick son of-- A-Are you alright? I-I wish there was something I could do to stop that guy already, I-I just...

[Is also struggling on her end to deliver coherent responses that don't sound too weepy.] Yes, yes, I'm alright...just stunned, I....please don't go after him. [Her reasons for requesting this overlap and contradict and asdgfdgh maybe picking up the phone was a bad idea.]
