Thanks for the encouragement. I still have lingering bad feelings about LOTR fandom, but yet here I am writing what I said I never would again -- a LOTR OFC. It's not going to stop me from writing it, though, and if/when I finish it, I will post it. But it's far from finished - a lot of what I've written down so far is just snipets of dialogue- and I haven't figured out how it ends yet! But I really like the OFC I've created for it, so I'm definitely going to continue. I just needed to vent.
You should not listen to all the others. Do you like/love the character you shall definitely see if you can get it together and post it.
I so have noticed that a lot of fanfic get read if they have slash in them or maybe a lot of sex, but how come is most of the books that is published rather have heterosexual stories? Many do read the publish books, so why would we not be able to read a fanfic that isn't slash?
For myself I try to write both on my older stories that hasn't slash and then some of the newer. My thing is as long I still love the characters and story I will write it and also post it if not for others to read atlaest for me to have it somewhere if anything would happen with the computer/usb.
Thanks also for the encouragement, and for listening to me vent. I will keep writing, and if I end up with something I'm happy with, I'll post it. It is odd though, isn't it, that mainstream fiction is hetero, but fandom relationship fics are mainly slash. For example, I know if I decided to write Bagginshield slash, I'd probably have plenty of readers! But of course, with Hobbit fic, it's difficult to avoid writing slash if you want to write relationship fic, because there are no female characters in the entire book.
Thanks for listening to me vent. I will post it when it's finished, in several locations. While it's true that there isn't a single female character in the book, and thus the possibilities for het fic are rather limited, my fic isn't set during the film - it takes place about 50 years prior while Thorin & co. were setting up a new home in the Blue Mountains.
Post it hon, who cares what the trolls think. Other people post their stuff regardless of what others have to say about it, they have a choice (tell them that) to read or not to read, that is what the close button is for. If you like it that's all that should matter. "HUGS"
Thanks for commenting. I was feeling crabby that day and needed to vent, but the whole OFC thing in fandom has always bugged me. I will post it when I'm finished.

I've three OFCs and I love them to pieces. They make the stories they are in better, IMHO.
