Colour me unsurprised.

Got a letter from DWP/ATOS on Friday, asking me to write to tell them why I didn't turn up to my ATOS PIP assessment on 16 January, if I don't want my claim cancelled ( Read more... )

Grr indeed.

I got to see someone on the evening of the Stonewall thing, and she was talking about people from NW London being expected to travel to Deptford for assessments. Is there only one centre for them in London?

There certainly used to be about 20 assessment centres in London - there was one last year in Thornton Heath which is 10 min away, but became notorious for being up a flight of stairs and asking people with mobility issues to go there.
Could be that they've cut down the number of centres. Or just that Deptford is the only place they've managed to retain or recruit any staff...

Her cynical view was that it was deliberate, in terms of getting to end more claims through people not turning up.

Depending on just where it is in Deptford, it's very unlikely to be anywhere vaguely near an underground or overground station, for example.

Actually, where is it in Deptford? I can find job ads for it, but nothing on the ATOS site itself. Maximus also has nothing.

Hughe Fields Community Centre, New King Street SE8 3HS.

It's listed on here: http://www.atoshealthcare.com/pip/consultation_locations/south_east_england

Ah, but not in the London list: http://www.atoshealthcare.com/pip/consultation_locations/london

It's 7 min walk from Deptford (regular trains from London Bridge), which has step free access, so could be worse.
