So... what exactly does a Mounted Dutyman do these days? I thought horses went out of fashion more than half a century ago (Battle of Komarów anyone?)
Oh, and people who oppose armed forces probably would oppose people dying in car crashes. They just figure that protesting against misery dispensed by military power is more useful than protesting against misery dispensed through bad drivers.
Best of luck in the armed forces. Hope you get what you want there.
Um... remember to always sympathise with those you struggle against, and to hold yourself to a higher ideal. May you be warded from all harm, and may your hand have success at what you turn it to. You have my blessings.
Essentially any mounted duties I perform will be entirely ceremonial in nature, there is always a mounted guard outside certain royal residences. However I will be trained in all essential soldiering skills as the other half of the unit are light reconnaissance tank crews and after two years I will become a member of one of those crews. I do however, during my time as a mounted dutyman, have the chance to learn various equine skills so I'm hoping to learn to be a farrier (shoeing horses and wot not) which is highly marketable once I leave.
Wowza Fish ... that must have taken some guts. I've been trying to find out what a Mounted Dutyman is, but for once the internet isn't keen to tell me. It's part of the Household Cavalry

Beans, eh? Now that's an idea ... I was thinking of leaving London, but that's a convincing reason to stay ;)
I went through a woodwork phase. Only got as far as buying a book or two on it ... but it's hard to do woodwork in a tiny one bedroom flat. I need somewhere I can set up a workbench.
I grunt and make man noises anyway ... seriously though, as good as tea is, it tastes much better brewed from a storm kettle on a wood fire, and drunk after a hard day's labour.
Have been thinking about joining the military too, Joe. I can definately seen the attraction in it. And likewise, I'm bored with other job ideas at the moment, and want to be outdoors more. Looking more to the medical core for myself - being a medic. Don't know that I'm a killer. I can't kill cane toads.

Conservation volunteering sounds pretty awesome too.
Full points for seizing the bull by the horns, man. Or the horse by the reigns.
