Just Checking
Jim sighed as he felt the weight of Namor's gaze on his back.
"What?" he finally asked as he rose from the bed without any worry of modesty.
"I came to see if you would be able to fight today." Namor answered. The stoic expression didn't so much as flinch. Jim rubbed his forehead and looked at the floor.
"Of course I can, why wouldn't I?"
Namor step a little bit closer and now Jim could see a hint of anger flashing in those dark eyes. "Because most men would not so easily shrug off a bullet wound, Firebug." He added an infliction to the name, a lower tone of voice that Jim suspected was meant to sound as though the word were an insult, but Jim could never manage to feel insulted when Namor called him that.
"As you are well aware, Water-rat," he said, reaching for his red tunic. "I am not most men, or even a man at all. That has its advantages. I'm recovered, at least enough to fight."
Namor's lips twitched until they formed a smirk. "It has man advantages from what I can see."
Jim said nothing as he zipped up the red tunic. For the second time that morning, he felt Namor's gaze bearing down on him like an anvil. He glance up and ran his fingers through his hair. "Again," he said a clipped done, "What Namor?"
Namor seemed to ponder he question. Then he took another step forward, intruding into Jim's personal space, but continuing to say nothing. Jim scowled and was about to push Namor back when Namor leaned forward and kissed Jim on the mouth. The kiss was firm, assured and aggressive. Namor didn't hold Jim or restrain him in anyway, but Jim didn't pull back from the kiss, didn't even breath until Namor pulled away.
"I'm not unhappy to see that you recovered so fully from your wounds. Now hurry up," Namor snapped. "We assault those cretinous surfacers this morning and I am tired of waiting."
Jim said nothing; he couldn't have if he wanted to. Instead he strode there with his mouth open as Namor strode from the tent and back out into to the cold of the early morning.
