ahhh the most important opinion! i'm so, so happy and so, so relieved you liked this. i felt like i went in a bit of a different direction from your prompt, and i was so nervous /o\ in addition, i've never really written robert before, so i'm absolutely thrilled that you liked my version of him! :DD thank you so much and i hope you have a very happy holiday ♥
High school AU and sports AU. :D I don't know a thing about rugby, even though I am a Brit, so I've learned lots about the game here! I really enjoyed reading this story. The characters were great. I grew rather fond of Mason. The whole ensemble were fun to read.
“At least I did something right, yeah?” he asks smoothly, but Arthur can hear the threads of desperation holding the question together. OH, EAMES! *cuddles him* I love the uncertainty that both Eames and Arthur go through. Arthur's awkwardness when he starts at the school especially rang true.
The scene on the field is hands-down my favourite. I want to re-read it endlessly. :3 Ok, so the final line is valiantly fighting for first place, too, since it also gives me all the warm fuzzies.
i didn't know a thing about rugby either, honestly. gelbwax drew me a diagram, dictated the basics to me, and that's what i basically went on. i'm glad it came through as authentic lol. also i'm glad my OCs seemed to work for people; i know they're tricky to work into a well-established fandom.
i'm so relieved you liked it, bb, truly, i had no idea how this was going to go over. *cuddles you* thank you for being such a sweetheart ♥
Lo. Lo. this was so amazing to read. I love the attention paid to Arthur and Eames not just as potential boyfriends but as real people. same for Robert, mason, and Ariadne. there is such an ensemble feel to the whole thing that I really enjoyed. and Arthur and Eames' dialogue, especially under the "romantic starry sky"....perfect!
the rugby aspect was also surprisingly fun to read about. I didn't know anything so I laughed at some of the position names, but it was an awesome introduction ;)
em, em, em. *knits a cape from this comment and roof-hops around saint louis in it* haha thank you so much for reading & for the splendid comments, bb. i'm so happy you enjoyed this. i'm also glad people seemed to like mason--i was kind of uncertain on giving an OC his role in the fic.
when maggie was teaching me all about rugby i also laughed at many of the terms. eames being the hooker was particularly amusing to me :B i'm glad it worked for you. *snuggle* ♥
I am one of those readers who absolutely love high school fics and sports fics and all of everything you wrote in this, so, by default, I loved this piece. :D
I loved Arthur, serious and yet not, and Eames, dedicated to the team and to his friends, and arthur's 'regression' and Robert's intervention. I basically loved the characterization in this and I loved the plot and I, yeah, repeating myself all over the board here.
Basically thank you for sharing! it was quite enjoyable to read.
ee i'm glad this fic suited your standards! i'm always nervous about writing high school fic and i knew NOTHING about rugby (i know very little about sports in general) so i'm extremely glad these specific aspects worked.
i cannot express how relieved i am that you liked the characterization. it was easily the thing i was most worried about. thank you so, so much for reading and taking the time to comment. i appreciate it very much :) ♥
