Extended Breastfeeding/Asking For It

Sep 06, 2012 19:08

I have a lot of friends irl who did not breastfeed past 6 months. None of us begrudge each other. Our kids get fed, whatever.

However, since beginning the breastfeeding journey I have repeatedly heard, "if they can ask for it they're too old for it."

Now, I'm totally fine with being Lebowski about this falling under the heading of, "That's just like ( Read more... )

raging out, via ljapp, breast feeding, i'm not a nice person, family, parenting, gonna have to staff blast a bitch

I die a little when Seamus says manamunamamama I can't imagine when he makes for real words. But seriously when I think about the idea of denying someone's request based on the fact that they're capable of asking it just seems mean

I have to admit I wanted to know what their voices will sound like. I think that might be stupid, but, you know. I'm curious. But less guess work will be sexcellent. And oh the unreasonable demands...I imagine those will just grow. How's nursing while pregnant? I don't know if we will because I don't know when we'll start trying, but I was curious as any person is I guess. :D

they'll be saying it soon. i would start to do the milk sign with t before she started talking really good, and she would run up and do it and grab my shirt. i never called tits boobs, or tits or anything like that. when she started doing the "whats that called" thing i always called them milks. so mama had milks, daddy had milks, and she would point to hers and call them tegan milks. lol.

We call them boobas or mewks. That's why I think it's funny Archer calls them nanga-nangs. He came up with that on his own one time when I tried putting him in his crib and it upset him and as he escalated his upset he started screaming nanga-nang so out came the boob and he calmed down and he's basically called it that since. Now, sometimes at night when Mike drops him in bed he'll call out nana!

i still am weirded out by babies standing to nurse. doesn't matter the age (they could be 1 month and the act of standing to nurse would still freak me out). i think it's cause i would think it would make me feel like a freakin jager machine at a frat party.

yes, i compared a frat party to breast feeding...

i thought i was going to stop at 6 months. that was before she was born. as soon as she started nursing (and my boobs got used to it), it was awesome and i always sang the praises of nursing. tilda is 13 months and she's still going strong. she pulls at my shirt, does the nananana thing. she laughs and claps and gets really excited when pull my bra off. how could i deny her? nursing is cool. plus, nothing calms my pissed off kid better than boobs.

I don't like it when people say that either. Amelia fusses or yanks on my shirt. A word might be easier.
