We're so similar about this that it hurts. A bunch of people found out I was doing p90x (which I get to start again tomorrow, wee!) and they did that, "oooh! so inspiring thing!" to me too. It just is what it is for me, I don't do it to make a statement or anything, just feels good man. When I'm not being lazy.
It's just weird to me, because I have this list of people that I think are ACTUALLY work out gurus (because most of them are personal trainers and therefore ACTUALLY work out gurus). Something about having kids and work it seems, but I just keep telling my friends ain't no thing unless they want to change it. If they don't my working out has no bearing on anyone else and I don't ever want people to think it's my new "statement" about...anything. Ever.
It's just me setting aside at least 30 minutes every day. I've been increasing that lately but it's mostly because I'm seriously amused by how INTENSE my stupid yoga app is. I did one of the routines last night and it told me to do a split. I stared at the app and if I could have I would have told it oh no. No I don't think that will happen. THIS IS A BEGINNER ROUTINE. BEGINNER.
"It's just me setting aside at least 30 minutes every day" exactly! I tried saying I didn't have the time and then I was like.. uh how much of my time is just in front of the computer? At least you have a slightly busier life with two little ones! I have zero excuses. Zero haha.
But yeah.. splits in a beginner routine? Not realistic. Maybe sometime you will!!
Yeah, I agree... I don't have time to keep my house clean, but somehow I have tons of time to waste refreshing Facebook? Yeah, right. It just means I'm prioritzing Facebook. The only way in which I buy this is when it comes to something that can only be scheduled during certain hours and there are commitments that take those hours that can't be moved.
You are absolutely correct but you'd be amazed how many times I'd say I don't have time for this. And it was total balls. It's so dumb something so corny would be the thing that'd make me have my DUH moment.
"Replace "I do not have time for" with "It is not a priority for me". Whenever you find yourself saying you don't have the time for something replace the latter phrase and discover what you're telling yourself and others isn't a priority."
Yup. Want to get fit? Sometimes getting more sleep, or eating, or whatever will be higher on the list of priorities, and life does interfere, but in the end this is really about how it's so easy to say "I can't" when what's meant is "I do not care enough about this to make it a priority."
I was thinking recently about how Woof still fails to get this at times. I should write about it. Witness how I manage my relationship, by writing about it on LJ! Poor fucker. :-D
Well dedication is a weird thing. While I appreciate my IUDs tenacity in alleviating unwanted pregnancies I hate the weight gain it's caused and working as hard as I have I've only lost 15lbs. Under normal circumstances I would usually do less and see equal or greater results. Thus I have to be dedicated or the weight will come back ASAP. Stupid birth control.
Ad when I read this quote to my SO he decided anytime he says he doesn't have time (which is valid since his work is very time sensitive) I would just declare his priorities are askew. I love how he thinks I think his work is not valid. -_- I do work, sure, but he's the actual breadwinner here. So work is valid! It's not like I do push ups at work or something crazy. Priorities I really do has!
