The problem is that although Obama is good for the U.S. , here in Israel he poses a great threat for us.

I know that Republicans are historically more sympathetic toward Israel, but I'm not sure McCain would have been helpful or effective in any way. Hopefully the PR boost the US will get from Obama's election will indirectly benefit Israel... and hopefully if he surrounds himself with intelligent people, he may yet be good for Israel. Hopefully.

The problems are:
1. The people who gave Obama money are pro-arabic
2. Leaving Iraq will make the States to give something back to the Arabs in order to have the ability to leave peacefully - guess what is going to be?
3. Trying to make peace with Arabs not from position of strength wont work - different mentality this is not Europe this is the middle east.
4. Trying to make peace with Iran (looking in the previous paragraph) is extremely stupid.
5. Trying to be diplomatic with Syria even more.

In conclusion Israel will not suffer directly , but will suffer a lot from the mistakes that can be easily seen from the beginning.
If you don't believe me , you can walk to the near history see what happend to Cambodia & Laos after the Americans left Vietnam under similar circumstances.

It's not that I don't believe you. I'm just trying to remain optimistic. It's really hard to say what way Obama will go on foreign policy issues because he hardly talked about them during his campaign. My thoughts are that he will focus on internal issues more.
