i haven't read the book of howl's moving castle, but i've seen miyazaki's film (i can't recommend this movie highly enough, i've heard it's different in some ways than the book but then aren't all movie adaptations? and miyazaki creates nothing but beautiful magic with his brilliant storytelling, beautiful animation and complex, endearing characters--it is a pure joy from beginning to end) probably a dozen times and have read others books of hers (hexwood, her chronicles of chrestomanci) and loved them. ♥

Diana Wynne Jones is so much love. Miyazaki's adaptation was okay... he made some odd changes. I prefer the book, definitely. Of her other works, I recommend the Dalemark Quartet, the Chrestomanci series, the Homeward Bounders, the Game, and the House of Many Ways. :)

want to read SHIVER so so much now. just finished FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH and.... eh. I gotta say, it was like HUNGER GAMES with zombies only not half as good. I wasn't as impressed as I wanted to be. must read SHIVER now, though!

Diehard DWJ fan right here :) It's a long time since I read the book of Howl's Moving Castle and I only saw the film for the first time recently. I'd say they're both interesting in their own right. I couldn't remember enough of the book to find the film unsettling and watching it made me want to re-read the book ( ... )
