Alright, new people, once again welcome. I'm Martha Jones, the head of the infirmary and I'd like to ask that you set up appointments with me in the infirmary so we could establish a medical baseline for emergencies. The physical is completely hands off and only takes a minute. Thank you

Any particular reason? Not that you need a reason, but-- [And because he isn't always completely oblivious, he actually sounds a bit concerned:] You're all right, aren't you?
Reply
No, I'm really all right at the moment.
[And she doesn't even know about the master.]
Reply
Doesn't mean we can't still talk, though. Just say the word-or quite a few words, if you like; there's no limit on the number-and we'll have a right old chat.

[Slight hesitation. He still isn't sure how Snape actually felt about this, or if he knew as much as he'd appeared to.] And I confirmed it. Explained that our world leans toward the side of science rather than any actual magic.
Reply
So you told him magic wouldn't work in our world?
[Martha sounds just a little crestfallen.]
Reply
[Yes, he's now beginning to worry that this was not a Good Thing to have done. He adds hurriedly:]
But that isn't quite the same thing, is it? That doesn't necessarily imply that it wouldn't work if it was...conjured, let's say, in our universe by someone who's got magical abilities. Obviously, that's a completely untested theory--but it's still a theory.
Reply
How would we go about testing the theory? You see... I've offered to have him come home with me from here... And that's why he asked.

And short of actually transporting said person of magical abilities to our universe and testing it there, it could be something of a challenge. Unless there's a way of replicating the conditions of our universe here-which I wouldn't normally encourage, but I'm beginning to think that nearly anything is possible on this ship.

Doctor, would you be willing to try to do it? Please?
Reply
I can't promise you that it would work, but... [His tone grows much warmer.] I can try, anyway. I can promise you that much.
Reply
I'm probably not meant to tell you that, but well... he can be angry with me all he wants at the moment, because he's a git and he deserves it.
But thank you, Doctor. You really, really don't know what it means to me.
Reply
Well, maybe for one minute.
[Pause. Trying to remember what he's meant to be talking about and wondering why she sounds suddenly cross with Snape.] And I won't tell a soul that you told me. No worries.
You're quite welcome. I'll do my best; it's the least I could do for you, after...well. Everything you've done for me.

Thank you. He'd be rather angry I mentioned it, but considering that he tried to lie to me... [Martha's voice raised slightly in pitch before she took a deep breath, and then she looks slightly sheepish because really, she hates that she feels like she's pushing him to do something that he doesn't want to do.]
I wouldn't ask if it really wasn't very, very important to me, Doctor. [A little under her breath.] I love him and I don't want him to have to remain stuck here without me.

Well, he'd be rather angry about most things, wouldn't he? He is Severus Snape, after all. [Said with the utmost admiration and affection.] Do you know, he actually seemed rather on the angry side when I complimented his robes. He gave me a look that was absolutely withering. Withering!
[He's grinning away at the memory. He's also going to deliberately overlook the fact that she seems to have used the "love" word. That could mean many things, after all, couldn't it?]
I know you wouldn't. It's no trouble, Martha, honestly; it could be a fascinating project in itself, I think. I could even use the TARDIS's systems, and it's been ages since I've given her something properly challenging to work on. Wouldn't that be brilliant? [Focusing on the technical aspects is always a good way to avoid a conversation about relationships.]
Reply
He's really not that angry all the time. [Says Martha who well, hopefully tends to bring out the best of him, but she is highly amused at the manner in which the Doctor is going on how Severus could be withering. It reminded her of herself in the beginning.]
It would be brilliant. And thank you, Doctor. I really do mean it. You've no idea what it means to me.
How are you doing with Rassilon and your other self showing up here?
