70-Goodbye McCoy

Apr 27, 2010 20:52

Well, this is terribly sad. Doctor McCoy will be missed, and I'm certain he'll be back. Until then, don't worry, the infirmary will function as it always has.

[Infirmary Wardens]Right so, I'm sure you've seen already, but apparently Leo's gone. We don't know if or when he'll be back, but until we know, I guess I'll be taking over the infirmary ( Read more... )

It will not be the same without him but, I have no objections to you taking over the infirmary.

Perhaps, since we have lost Peter so recently and gained a few more, as well, there should be a new schedule made? I would hate for there to be any miscommunication.

No, no it really won't be. I... Thank you, Sveta, for your support.

And yeah, a new schedule being made is just what I want to get together with all of us to try and figure out. I think we're all going to be having longer shifts now, I'm afraid.

You know I do not mind working longer shifts, Martha. And, well, McCoy had a tough job. If there is anything I can do to make your time easier, do not hesitate to ask. You should not have to do this alone, especially when there are plenty of other doctors willing to help.

I know, but I prefer having insanely long shifts for when there's need for them. And he did have a very tough job... I'm quite sad to be losing him, to tell you the truth, Sveta. He was more like a friend than a boss.

Don't worry, I plan on making this as much of a group effort as I can, which is why I want as much input as I can muster for it.

My neighbor...?

I'll return to my shifts at the Infirmary tomorrow.

Of course, Judas, if you think you're ready. I've no objection as long as you go easy and don't try to overdo it, all right?

As I made clear to Dr. McCoy when I joined the staff, I'm not a trained medical doctor, though I am an expert in human anatomy. I would gladly work full time if you felt I was qualified.

I have no objection to you taking over his duties.

Right. If you don't feel as if you're ready for it, Dr. Brennan, then I'm not going to push you to it and can leave ya on backup duty.

Right then. We'll put you on with someone else for a few weeks, just so we both feel comfortable with it, yeah?

He's already asked, Sexby, and I've already told him that he could as long as he didn't attempt to overdo his recovery. I think that working in the infirmary seems to help him, and I'm completely willing to continue that for as long as you and he are willing too.

I'm thinking about perhaps giving him a bit more responsibility, depending on how things go with his legs. I think it might help him realize that he is, in fact, a valuable member of the infirmary staff. I wouldn't do it without your permission, of course.

Of course, Sexby. I wouldn't do anything that would interfere with his rehabilitation, and I wouldn't do anything that would make him feel useless either.

You let me know when you think he's ready, all right?

Should Verona leave, I shall take up whatever duties are left from her absence.

Thank you, Aleera. It seems like you, yourself are planning on graduating soon. Congratulations to you both!
