Look, Ma, More Vids! (Part Three)

Jan 14, 2006 22:05

The sad part is, I'm still not done. But this is part three of the Insane Vid Recs Project (no, I did not pick January for this just because of all the Insane January Vidding Projects going around; it's just a happy, crazy coincidence). Feel free to truck on back to parts two and one. You will particularly want to read the explanation of why you ( Read more... )

Thanks for doing the newsletter. And I hope you folks keep up with it; I know it's a lot of effort for very little reward (newsletter editors almost never get any love, I notice). But I, at any rate, deeply appreciate it. I've been wanting something like that for a long, long time.

Me: It's just very...see, and then he shoots him, and it's just...okay. I think it's a sign of true love.

Oh, that scene? The one where Methos shoots Duncan in order to keep Duncan away from a guy Methos is pretty sure Duncan wants to be killed by, and then goes off to kill the guy himself while Duncan's out? That one?

...yeah, I'm pretty sure your instincts are on the mark, there. *g*

OMG OMG OMG. Okay, that's it, I need to know what episode this is right now.

Heh. My work is done! It's called "Forgive Us Our Trespasses." If you can't get ahold of it or just would prefer not to watch, there's a transcript here. I should mention that Amanda's in this one and is actually doing the majority of the "keep Duncan alive" cheerleading, but still, there's plenty of Methos. Note that Methos' and Duncan's interaction here is more meaningful if you know about "Comes A Horseman" and "Revelation 6:8," in which Methos is revealed to have been a very bad person indeed, back in the day.

Hey, thanks for the rec. My mail finally came back to me four days later saying it was undeliverable. Sigh.

Anyways, just FYI, Disappearing Man is by Melina and Jo <(lj user=feochadn>), who is also my frequent vidding partner in crime.

Oh, and the effect in Tumbling Dice you mentioned is called a wipe. There are a number of different types, and they can push one fame out of the screen like this one and bring in the next clip, or you can also make it wipe from one clip to the next by going up or down the screen. You've seen them if you've seen the original Star Wars movies; Lucas kind of revitalized an old-fashioned effect that wasn't used as often in drama anymore at that time.

Arg. I'm so sorry about that; I have no idea what's up with my fannish email account. It's gmail, so you would think it would be reasonably reliable (and I definitely haven't filled up my space), but you would be wrong. Lots of people are getting intermittent bounces from my address, and I don't know why. I'm right on the verge of emailing google tech support, even though that never fails to be totally and completely useless.

A wipe! I knew there had to be a name for it!

*revels in newfound vocabulary word*

Yes! Or, like, where one scene covers another like a clock (with the hand sweeping around, clearing the old scene out and replacing it with the new). I remember those.

Anyways, just FYI, Disappearing Man is ( ... )

Thanks a ton for the rec. Good to know others see The One Ring as I do ;) Can't wait to see the rest of the recs!

Thanks for the vid! (And for, um. Not leaving me alone in my sincere and perverse admiration for the One Ring. I mean, I'd start a One Ring fanlisting if it wasn't for the fact that all right-thinking citizens would, you know, hunt me down and lock me away somewhere.)

Thank you!

This series only has one more post to go (and, yeah - when I started this, I did not suspect I'd end up needing four posts of four fandoms each, and I'm still all blinky and shocked), but after that I'm, hmmm. I'm trying to decide how I want to do vid recs in future. But vid recs there will be. Apart from anything, I get a lot more out of vids when I watch them with an eye to eventual recommending.

*plans poll on the future vid recs of TFV, because every LJ decision is made better by a poll*
