You Got Fandoms? I Got Vids. (Part One)

Jan 01, 2006 01:03

Okay, see, here's the deal. I am the last person you should be trusting for vid recs. I deal with visual media pretty much by pretending it doesn't exist, because generally speaking it makes no sense to me. You know how most people come to fandom and fan fiction from TV shows? I came to TV shows from fan fiction, and the people who had to get me ( Read more... )

The Abby Road and Hallelujah vids don't have working links. I don't know if that's just my computer or what; when I go to the websites and try to download it doesn't work. >

No, me neither. If someone who read this had it and could put it up on YSI, maybe TFV fans could share it around for a bit to reduce the load on Luminosity?

I know someone who hosted this for a couple of days last month; I'll email her to see if she's still up for hosting it today. Lum may not have had a chance to bring it back up yet.

Y'know, I do not love you for your recs - there are many more muchnesses to you than even these multifariously magnificent mash-ups can suggest - but I do love the recs themselves with a fairly embarrassing passion. Just so's you know.

Okay, so I always enjoy reading your recs, right? And I was really loving these vid recs even though I've already seen all of these except Scooby Road and Hallelujah (but then, what can be more gratifying than seeing someone else rec something that you already love?), and then I got to this:

So my technical love with Welcome Home is how it appeals to my retarded inner beat whore.

At which point I fell over laughing helplessly. I, too, have a retarded inner beat whore.

Anyhow, thanks for letting us know that Scooby Road is available for download. I've been looking forward to that one.

Also, Icebound Stream? Word word word. Fraser/Victoria: Their love is so polar.

Avalanche-- I like that one a lot, but I think you got more out of it than I did, and I suspect that your comments about it will enhance my next viewing of it.

Thank you so much for the lovely words. I put my heart and soul into Scooby Road, and you mentioned a couple of things that I consciously tried to do in the project.(I'm always interested, too, in what a viewer brings to a vid in conjunction to/complementary to/in opposition to what I've done in a vid. I think authorial intent is well and good, but the way art is revealed today invests so much into *the viewer*. And that's cool. *g*) However, I consciously attempted to keep the entire project visually and tonally consistent, and I'm thrilled that you noticed. Also, I *did* repeat clips quite deliberately within the project, hoping that the viewer would remember where she had seen them last and make a thematic connection.

It's up on my LJ and z_rayne's LJ at the moment, AFAIK.

Nope. Although, seriously, if I was ever going to go to a con, that would be the one; it's right near where I live and if Laura Shapiro gets to do any of her vid panels this year, well, that alone...

But, um. Much as I'd love to go, I also know it would be a major disaster. So, no. But I made Laura swear she'd take good notes on the vid panels for me. (OMG marketing your vid! You would not believe the amount of thought and half-assed writing I've put into that!)
