The most memorable thing that's happened to me was riding the train in London with a copy of Hogfather by Terry Pratchett in my lap, and having another Pratchett fan sit next to me.  We had about a twenty minute rant session about how much we loved the books--he'd never read Hogfather, but he'd been looking for another book to read and decided that
