“Sam. Sam, Sam. Sam.”

Donna was skirting down the halls and knocked on Sam’s door, giving him a skittish smile. “Hi,” she greeted, noticing that Sam was just typing away, seemingly oblivious to any of Josh’s shouting down the hall, all need and really annoying older-Jewish-man-whine. “I think Josh is looking for you.”

Sam’s finger was hovering over several keys and he barely glanced up over the rims of his glasses. “I’d never know,” he replied, lightly.

“Samuel Norman Seaborn, I swear to god!” Josh was swearing and stood in the doorway, smacking a newspaper against the frame, at the same time as Donna skittered away. “Did you see this?! Did you see this? Does the other side even have a filter between brain and mouth or is it all just spilling out at ninety miles per idiotic hour?”

“What have the Republicans done, Josh?” Sam asked. “Besides encourage taxation of the poor.”

“They think they’re controlling the news cycle, but they are not,” he scoffed, “they are so, so not, they are not doing it with this ( ... )

sdlfjwioefjklsd ballerina XDD I can't even deal with how amazing that is. I love Josh's ballerina aspirations. "I... didn't know what it was at the time. I liked the word."

And yet, who are we to deny the amusement of Josh in a tutu?

"You really know how to show a guy up you know that?" Lee Adama spoke, hitting the bag with one hard punch after the other.

Holding the bag steady, she shrugged a bit, "I can't help it. I saw it. Looked funny."

"He's not even your father."

Kara let go of the bag, and the bag came back and smacked Apollo dead in the face.

"What the hell was that for?" he yelled, hitting his nose. He hoped it wasn't broken.

"Cause you're a frakking idiot."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You should be grateful you even have a father. But look at you. Sometimes you disgust me, Lee." Kara shook her head and walked out of the gym.

Some Father's Day.

It was actually a beautiful mid-June afternoon, breeze blowing through the trees of the Forest, rustling the bushes around the patch of ground Harry was occupying at the moment. Books were strewn around him, a pretext for what he was really doing here ( ... )

It was hard, seeing him like that. Especially since she had just met him, though she'd known him her whole life. She wished the Doctor were there, wished it didn't have to end this way. But no. There he was right in front of here on the concrete, bleeding internally. And there was nothing anybody could do. Not even the Doctor with his magic blue box. No, but at least she could be there for him. He wouldn't die alone. Not this time around. And he was proud of her, that had to count for something. Finally, the ambulance arrived, and she was pushed away. Back into the church, to grieve, to think, to figure out how to live the rest of her life in a time that was not her own. She was unexpectedly pulled into a hug. It was comforting and familiar. The Doctor. He was back. Everything was as it should have been.

There are a million reasons why this is wrong, why they should stop, and even though they're all running through Sam's head at a terminal velocity, all he can focus on is Josh's fingers and Josh's mouth and Josh backing him into a corner closet in the OEOB. They need to stop this, Sam told him, he told him three times on the campaign and three times since the election and twice more today alone, but Josh isn't good at doing things on other people's terms, which means his hand is slithering down Sam's pants, even as Sam pants the many reasons why this is a bad idea.

He doesn't stop him, though, and he doesn't want to.

He remembers first meeting Josh, remembers being nothing more than a child interning on the Hill. He remembers the way Josh had said, "Look me up when you're ready to tackle some grown-up work down here," remembers nodding dumbly, remembers that even though he did call Josh, Josh wasn't interested until it was he who needed Sam ( ... )
