Mio's reason for visiting the kitchen was similar to Leo's, she wanted to get something to eat and take another quick look at the basement. She had found it earlier and gone as far as she and Zetsu could handle after her chance encounter with the group of new arrivals, but it was still tugging at her. That boy had said to stay out - why was that? What was at the end of the passageways and tunnels? With the phantoms having had disappeared down the staircase, she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to give it further exploration on her own, but...she didn't want to keep bothering Zetsu, either. She bothered him enough and things were mostly safe during the day, so ( ... )

Leo had just opened the strange, tall box that was cold inside (and lit up when he opened the door) and taken an apple when he caught sight of Mio. Feeling the need to be a gentleman, he gave her a nod and stood aside so that she might get whatever she wanted before he continued his rummaging for food. "Good morning, is it?" Leo took a glance around in a vain attempt to check.

He hadn't eaten for awhile after he woke so as to go through his training exercises - even away from his home, Leo would remain vigilant and ready himself for whatever danger might come his way. He raised a brow at Mio's question before giving her a somewhat flat look. "I'm afraid the stove doesn't work, Mio," he replied, gesturing at the useless thing. "There's no way to light it." Either way, he was content to wait until Mio had eaten - ladies first, after all.

Mio offered a word of thanks to his stepping aside, nodding in response to his question, "Ah, yeah, it is." If you discounted the fact that a few people were still missing. Even Jonouchi appeared to have disappeared - had he been spirited away as well...? It seemed that way, but...still...she hoped that wasn't the case. She didn't want to think it was. That aside, the monsters had disappeared as per usual and the kitchen was no longer a rotting mess and so Leo's proclaiming that the stove didn't work caught her off guard.

"Really? It was working fine earlier..." She said quietly, abandoning her materials to test it for herself. She twisted one of the knobs slightly, listening as the stove began to emit a clicking sound and eventually produced a flame before shutting it back off and giving Leo a somewhat puzzled look. It still seemed to be working...remembering her earlier intentions, she perked a little and decided to make the offer, "Oh, um...I think I'm going to make pancakes. Did you want some?"

Leo looked at Mio's face, wondering. Was she always this quiet? "Is something the matter?" he asked, keeping out of the way so the girl could do as she needed. He watched in amazement as Mio managed to make the stove work, blinking. How was that possible? All Mio had done was turn one of those strange little knobs. Eyeing the stove inquisitively, Leo directed a question to Mio. "How does that work?"

He was somewhat distracted by the mention of something he'd never heard of before. Wrinkling his nose in his confusion, the beastman asked another question, feeling somewhat like a fish out of water. "What are pan-cakes?"

Mio did tend to be quiet around people she didn't know well and sometimes even those she did. Unless the situation demanded otherwise, she was quiet by nature. "Ah, no, sorry..." She gave him an apologetic smile, although she wasn't entirely sure what she was apologizing for. She blinked to his question, had he never used a stove before? She briefly thought back to Simon - poor thing had been starving because of it. "It's a gas stove, so it's controlled by knobs..." She explained, frowning a little. "I'm not sure of the technical details, but um...it's pretty easy to use."

He'd never heard of pancakes? She blinked slowly, trying to think of how to explain that... "It's a really thin, flat cake," was the answer she decided on, pausing before adding one more detail, "Um...they're a breakfast food."
