Leo gave Mio a nod, confident that she was telling the truth. Perhaps it was a fault of his, but Leo always believed that people were telling him the truth unless otherwise proven - such as when Hiro had lied to him about the Devil Lucia (but even in this place, Leo was doubting the Goddess' word that Lucia was evil incarnate, something that was deeply troubling him), or when Ronfar, his former best friend, had lied to him about sheltering Hiro. Doing his best to banish such thoughts from his head, Leo walked a little closer, setting the as-yet-uneaten apple on the counter in order to get a better look. "The magic in this place is strange, indeed," he murmured, smiling at Mio suddenly. "You must be skilled to master such things."

He'd never had much of a talent for learning new magic, even if the few magical abilities he did have were powerful. As Mio continued with her explanation, he nodded. "We do not have these... pancakes... on Lunar," he said slowly. "How are they made?" Not that he was much of a cook, but he could get by.

"Magic?" There was a touch of confusion in her voice as he repeated the word. She'd heard of magic, but the closest thing she'd seen to it at this point was what she'd seen of Zetsu's abilities and even that didn't quite seem to fit the bill. He must have come from a world without such things, then...? Or at least where they weren't readily available. She folded her hands in response to what she suspected was a compliment that she simply couldn't take, shaking her head, "A-ah, I-I'm not, really. If you're having trouble with it, I could help you..." She shuffled a bit, should she really be offering that? There wasn't much to explain, after all, and she didn't want to come off as condescending ( ... )

"Yes," Leo answered, "magic. Have you never heard of it?" Where did Mio come from, then, if not Lunar? Then again, this place was unlike anything he had seen on the Silver Star. Technology was all but a foreign word there, and when it wasn't, it was usually negative, such as the Grindery which, according to legend, was said to have been the cause of Vane falling from the sky. His own Dragonship Destiny ran by the power of the White Dragon, which Althena had granted him. The beastman thought for a few more moments in this rather rambling vein, and finally gave a silent nod to Mio. After all, if he was to survive here, and to protect others, he would need his full strength, right?

The knight stepped closer to watch, his sharp eyes taking in everything that Mio was doing as an answer to her question. Ronfar had always been far better off at cooking than Leo, but he still had to try - who knew? Perhaps he would run into someone who would need food, and as the White Knight, Leo would have to be prepared for everything.

Mio chose her next words carefully, "I've heard of it, but...I was always told it was fictitious." She wasn't sure magic existed in her world, but then there was All God's Village and it's many eccentricities. Ghosts, Gates to Hell, deities, she'd been taught for the better portion of her life that those thing did not exist in her own world. She didn't think anything that existed here did in her world, either. It was almost depressing, because it squashed any possibility of finding most of these individuals if she was ever able to return to her own world ( ... )

At Mio's answer, Leo's brow furrowed. "Fictitious?" Who could ever believe that magic didn't exist? It was an integral element to the Silver Star - and, from what he'd seen thus far, to this world as well (how else to explain his being spirited away?). "Who told you that?" His tone was quiet and even, and Leo managed to stop any incredulousness from creeping into his voice. To the beastman, it was nearly akin to someone saying that Althena didn't exist.

Leo watched Mio quietly, taking care to eat his apple quietly so as not to interrupt her concentration (unlikely, but one never knew). He blinked in amazement, however, as Mio used that strange box. It did something other than beep strangely?
