It might have been instinct, or maybe the way that the masked monsters' not-eyes stared flatly, but Kraehe had dropped her Rue act as soon as the first glove had touched her arm. She'd fought, of course, struggled and conjured bladed feathers one after another, but these things weren't just normal monsters - their touch had evoked death, and the memory of bleeding skin and broken ankles and music that she couldn't stop dancing to. She'd frozen. They'd grabbed her. It was as simple as that.

Once she was sure it was useless, she'd submitted of her own will - it hurt her pride, but they'd left her well enough alone then. Taken her, carried her to this underground cage, yes; but they'd done it as carefully as possible. As if she wasn't to be damaged.

Not yet.Kraehe'd begun to fight again as soon as the cells had come into view, but the not-quite-monsters hadn't seemed to care; they'd simply tightened their hold until she was almost motionless, simply grasping to take a breath. They were like well-oiled machines - bent on doing their job ( ... )

Mello was not happy.

It wasn't like he hadn't been expecting something along the lines of this to happen eventually. He was a prisoner in this house, just like everyone else. There was absolutely no reason that it wouldn't happen to him. That, however, certainly didn't mean he wanted it to happen. Though he knew it was more or less inevitable that it would, he had not been looking forward to it.

He hadn't tried to fight the Phantasms when they had come to get him. He'd tried to run at first, but after they caught him, he didn't struggle. He by no means enjoyed being dragged off so fucking helplessly, but he knew there was no point in trying to fight them. This was his first time actually meeting the Phantasms, but he had been here long enough to have heard plenty about them already. He was aware that he couldn't do anything to stop the stupid screwballs, so why fucking waste energy trying? He'd tried to talk to them-- cursed at them mostly, but he did compliment their masks and coats-- but the fuckers didn't seem to like ( ... )

Ciel hadn't heard much about the Phantasams, but he's had enough experience with getting kidnapped by someone who could easily injure him- which by now he was certain that all the monsters fit into this category- to know to not struggle ( ... )

Mello stopped pacing and sharply turned around upon having heard Ciel speak. He hadn't noticed the brat was here until Ciel had commented on his behavior; he'd likely been so busy freaking out about the situation that he'd just overlooked every other person there.

Regardless, it seemed as though Ciel never failed to irritate him. "SHUT UP!" He furiously screamed at the top of his fucking lungs, and then resumed his pacing. "I will yell and curse as much as I fucking want," he snapped viciously, his voice now lowered, though by no means more pleasant. "And you're going to fucking deal with it. Believe me, Ciel, I should be the very least of your concerns right now. Why d'you even think we're here? They've got plans for us. We're here because we're going to be fucking horribly tortured. I'm sorry if I'm offending you, and I'm well aware it's not going to get me anywhere, but I can't exactly sit around all fucking calmly right now ( ... )

Of course, Mello had to be a hot-head who would just worry about what was going to be done to them. He didn't flinch, he wasn't even mildly surprised at the reaction. It was just irritating. A waste of energy and time, and it was taking away from his concentration, and his patience.

He stood up and turned on Mello, shouting, "Why don't you shut up? I want to be able to HEAR if things are going on! Instead of panicking, why don't you try observing. Look for some things around the room that might be useful, listen to hear if the phantoms make any noises, try to find something we can use to get out of here. Even if it doesn't work, at least you'll be trying instead of wasting all of our time!

Ciel just had to go and lecture him on what he should be doing, didn't he? Talking to him like he was a complete moron. Telling him how to properly handle the situation. Mello hated that. Who the hell did Ciel think he was? The cocky little shit just thought he was superior to him in every respect, didn't he? The kid was so fucking full of himself that it was sickening.

He hoped the Phantasms would be able to beat that out of him. The kid needed it.

"Yeah? Take your own advice, then, and stop wasting your time bitching at me," he snarled. "Learn to fucking ignore distractions, why don't you? I'm not about to stop doing anything just for your convenience." He tightly clenched his fists, audibly gritting his teeth. "And don't lecture me. If I'm wasting anyone's time here, it's only my own. Not all of ours. No... y'know what? Don't tell me I'm wasting my time. I can make that judgment for myself, and I can figure out on my own what I should be doing right now. You really think I haven't thought of observing this place ( ... )

Like the others, Link had given a bit of a struggle when he was first dragged down here. He'd dealt with Poes back in the Arbiter's Crypt, but these ghosts were something else... Without his ability to sense them it had only been a matter of time before they had him cornered, Master Sword or not. The more he fought, the more they worked to restrain him until the young man had to admit defeat or risk breaking an arm. Strong as they were, Link was honestly surprised when - save having a decidedly firm grip on their new prisoner - they didn't do anything more than move him to a cell and simply leaving him there, weapons and all ( ... )

Mello had finished with his screaming and cursing a while ago; though it was a perfectly suitable initial reaction to the situation, it had grown old rather quickly. There would be no point in keeping that up the entire time he was in the cell, as doing so would have been a bit of a waste of energy. Besides, yelling so much was beginning to hurt his throat and give him a headache. Though the disgustingly bright white lights in this place probably didn't help with that.

Regardless, it was quite some time before he decided to stop fretfully pacing back and forth across the cell. He kept that up until it had finally started to tire him out. He wasn't sure how long it had taken; in fact, he really hadn't the slightest clue as to how long he'd even been in the cell. It didn't seem like any time had been passing at all.

Which was probably why, he figured, it seemed like it had been so long at the same time ( ... )

After being stuck here with nothing but Mello and Ciel's 'conversation' as the only distraction, Link had understandably tuned the two out. The last bit of time was spent watching the others trapped in this too bright room and trying unsuccessfully to find a way out. These Phantasms seemed very no-nonsense compared to the guards of Hyrule Castle or the Twilight Beasts that Zant created.

Then again, when none of those groups had been raised or even exposed to such a cold place, Link couldn't find it in his heart to blame them. Between the steady hum of the light above them and any other quiet noise that was being made in the cell, the swordsman had just about nodded off when he heard someone call out to him. It takes a few moments for Link to blink away the sleep and realize that someone was speaking to him, and not continuing the conversation from earlier.

"Hm...?" What a strange question the other person was asking. After a second, he simply sighed as he shook his head. No, he didn't really enjoy this whole imprisonment deal.

"No?" Mello laughed bitterly, taking a few seconds to look the other over. In no way did he look like he was enjoying himself; he just seemed bored. He looked like he'd been about to fall asleep, and Mello couldn't really blame him. Who wouldn't hate every moment of this?

He couldn't help but to wonder, though, if the guy had any idea of what was to come. Not that he did himself-- hell, he was completely clueless about this whole thing-- but he knew it was going to be bad. He didn't know firsthand about what the phantasms did to people; he'd only been told about it. His idea of what to expect was vague at the very best, but he knew whatever happened after this would be awful, and although he was now trying to hide at least some of his fear, he was terrified.

"Me neither, really," he commented dryly, averting his eyes for a moment. "Prison's no fun. And they sure do a nice job of making this place as painfully boring as possible, huh? Makes it all the worse to wait ( ... )
