Characters:Hugo Stiglitz Setting: Entrance Room Time: Night 016 Summary: Hugo's stumbled into the House, confused and more than a little angry, and meets the Lanternkeeper, among others. Warnings: Hugo is...Hugo.
The entrance room was one of the few places that Marta had found herself able to relax in. She'd been on edge all night. Even the rhythmic sound of the nurses heels clicking outside of her bedroom was enough to unnerve her, even though they never broke in. It was a peculiar situation for the girl, but no matter how many times she told herself how irrational her fears were (after all, when had she ever feared monsters?) she couldn't quite shake her concern. The entrance room was different, though. It was positioned in a way that one would run a risk of encountering the burning man or the mother ghost, but the welcoming atmosphere that it had made it worth the danger

Hugo stiffened and whipped around to face the girl. He stared at her for a long moment, gun raised, before realizing it was just a young girl. He lowered the gun slowly. "...Hello."
He was still suspicious, but she didn't seem to mean him any harm. Yet.
Marta couldn't help but feel relieved when he lowered the gun. She really didn't to have the barrel of one of those pointed at her. She smiled a bit more, placing her hands behind her back.
"What's up?" She tilted her head a bit to one side. Perhaps because she'd been spent a fair amount of time huddled up in the entrance room, in spite of the fact that she'd been in the house for months, the fact that he was new to the house still hadn't quite dawned upon her. "Are you hiding here to avoid the monsters, too?"
Hugo tilted his head to the side, eyebrows drawn together in a clear look of confusion. He looks away from the girl for a moment, scoping the room for someone other than the disturbing woman lighting the general area.
He clears his throat quietly, moving the gun down further, holding on with only one hand instead of the battle-ready two. "Monsters?"
Marta nodded. "Yeah, it seems like they're everywhere lately, but I think that any room that she's in is safe." She straightened herself, looking in the Lanternkeeper's direction as she went on. The monsters and ghosts never seemed to follow her into any room where she was. Of course, Eva had said that the woman had attacked her, too, but that couldn't have been right.
At the same time, the possibility that he might be new finally clicked in her mind as she realized that he seemed, well, confused by her talking about even bringing them up. Marta thought that anyone who'd been in the house long enough to see a night would know what she meant right off the bat. If he was confused about it, that probably meant he'd been fortunate enough not to run into any yet, right? Come to think of it, this was the room where everyone first arrived. She couldn't help but feel slightly annoyed at herself for not thinking of it sooner

Hugo grunted and shrugged his shoulders. They were safe, were they? Hugo wasn't sure about that, and judging by the stiff way he held his shoulders, he wasn't letting his guard down any time soon. But if the little girl said it was safe, then he could at least stop behaving like every inch of the floor hid Bouncing Betties or pitfalls. Well, almost.
"Not long." Hugo seems like a strictly one to two word kind of guy. For all the scowling and glaring, his voice is surprisingly calm and light.
