He wasn't expecting to end up here... wherever he was. Almaz wasn't even sure what he'd tripped over, but he was pretty sure tripping didn't suddenly take you into another world--not unless you fell into a dimensional gate, anyway ( ... )

Machi was hardly paying attention. As far as he was concerned, it was just him and the piano and he was putting his entire being into it, playing with pure emotion, soul, his whole body. He didn't notice Almaz at all, or if he did he seemed to be absolutely unmoved by a human presence--it was, to all appearances, just him and the piano and the music he made exist from his hands. The superior notes of Chopin's 'Fantasie' Impromptu in C-sharp minor, Op. 66 No. 4 filled the room, spiralling past the doorways and out into the halls, filling the air and open space with dazzling melody.

His fingers moved the key in intricate patters, movements so efficiently elegant and fluid in execution that they were almost beautiful, but more striking was the expression on his face, eyes closed, a faint smile, rare and perfect with contentment.

((OOC: I can only make a tag like this so long...))

Almaz finally put away his sword, taking a moment to listen. The song really was quite beautiful, and he hoped the player didn't mind him standing there listening like he was. Whoever he was, he seemed to enjoy playing the piano, judging by the smile on his face, and that was good, considering just how talented he was for being so young (the player looked younger than Almaz was).

After a moment, the hero finally stepped forward, almost reluctant to make the player stop. "Um... Hello. I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm looking for my friends. Have you seen them?" Almaz timidly asked. If he hadn't that was fine. He'd leave the boy alone to continue playing if that was what he wanted.

The pianist didn't answer. In fact, Machi didn't respond at all, didn't look up, didn't even twitch. It was just him and the piano, as far as appearances were concerned, and it was questionable whether he had even heard Almaz or not. One would think he hadn't seen the boy, since a sword would normally be cause for concern, but there really was no evidence either way--Machi continued to play passionately, throwing his entire body into the act of playing, far more lively, expressive, alive than he had ever demonstrated before. It was like being alive again. It was being alive again. He'd been dead--that entire time, he'd been dead, but now he was alive... he was complete and alive.

The music carried through the halls and Machi lost himself within its currents, his fingers meeting its curvatures and rhythms perfectly. He had done so many things lately, so many... wrong... he more than welcomed back the surge of the instrument, the real thing, for him. His arms fell into long-memorized movements, his self and the piano becoming one.

Almaz frowned. Maybe Machi hadn't heard him. He looked to be pretty focused on playing after all, almost like he hadn't been able to do it in a long time. But, then again, he'd only just gotten here. He couldn't say much about someone he'd just met--er, seen. Almaz almost felt guilty interrupting the boy like this, but he couldn't just give up on finding his friends.

The hero raised his voice in order to be heard above the piano. "Excuse me," he tried again. "Sorry to bother you, but have you seen anyone come by here? I'm looking for my friends."

He fidgeted a moment before he spoke up again. "I-if you haven't, though, that's okay, too."
