At least, he had felt safer until they came across the dining room. The living room may have been scary, but at least everything was in one piece. This was crazy! Had a monster come through here? Was it still here? What if there were more than just closet monsters? They weren't safe there!
He was about to say as much when he too noticed the boy in the corner of the room. Acting on instinct he again found himself hiding behind his new friend's leg. Again, on instinct, he was doing it terribly wrong. He didn't notice though - he was just waiting to see if the new boy would be as nice as Nami's sister.

One, no, two people(?) entered the room. The boy didn't realize their appearance, their gender or whatever else. Just that they were alive, two hearts pumping blood, two breaths warm with life.
His legs had curled beneath him, muscles tensed to spring into action, to throw one of them down and devour, when the girl stepped onto the glass shard, shattering it and with it the hold the blood lust had on him, at least momentarily. Enough to make Zero throw himself backward, farther into the corner he had huddled in, instead of forward.
"Get out!" He cried at them, sounding half mad with fright and rage.

She let go of the little deer’s hoof and squeezed his shoulder reassuringly, more confident in herself now that there was visible danger she could deal with. Slowly, she began walking towards the boy pressed against the corner, pulling out her pink pouch but keeping the blade retracted until she knew just what she was fighting. She tried to step carefully, but couldn’t help the occasional crunch or two from the broken glass and china beneath her feat.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, voice strong. She was there to help and she wasn’t backing down now.
