Superman Comics Recs List #1 (1-10)

Dec 30, 2010 18:48

Several of my Twitter/LJ friends have asked me to give them a recs list of Superman comics, bonus if they have great Clark/Lois interactions.  I started making this list and writing why I love them in particular, but then the list went on and on and I haven't even gotten to my Superman/Batman recs.  So this will be a series of recs, bear with me.

Thank you SO MUCH for doing this! I've been wishing for a list like this for a long time. As Smallville has integrated more and more DCU elements into the show, I often feel as though I'm missing something, but I never knew where to begin. I started with Geoff Johns' Superman/Legion/JSA stories, and branched out into Byrne and Waid, and then started lurking on scans_daily to find other comics I might like. Lots of times someone would post a cool Clois panel over there, but have no idea what issue it was from, and three of those are in your descriptions here, so now I can find them! And since your post coincides nicely with the sale Mile High Comics is having, I just ordered everything on your list I don't already have ( ... )

You're very welcome. I'm glad this list was helpful. I am working on an 11-20 list, but several of the ones I want to include I have to re-read so I can give a proper description and evaluation (i.e. All Star Superman, Red Son, etc ( ... )

I would pretty much sell my soul for a new Lois and Clark comic with Clark and Lois drawn to look like Tom and Erica.

I know there has been some talk over at DC about a Lois Lane comic. And obviously, I love my girl and I would love to read a Lois Lane comic where she is out there kicking ass and traveling the world.

But truthfully, what I want more than anything is a Lois and Clark centric comic.

I remember reading a website that basically outlined that in an ideal world there would be 3 different Superman-centric titles (and Superman would actually be the star of all of them) with the 3rd title being Clark and Lois centric.

I agree. Though I would seriously subscribe to a monthly Lois Lane comic (especially a Post-Crisis Lois Lane comic), I would love more a comic starring Lois Lane AND Clark Kent. It might not be very feminist of me, but I love Clark. He's the reason I'm here. And while I think Lois could hold her own book, I love the relationship between them as journalistic partners AND spouses AND mutual cheerleaders.

Reading Lord of the Ring is a must. If you can find these issues (which is admittedly hard to do unless you go online) then yes please read them. DKoM wasn't hard to find actually, but I wish they would put both of these and other instances of Lois/Clark/Bruce in stories together as a TPB. I would so buy it even if I already have the single issues.
