Summary: It's time to collect the Christmas cards that the heroes are sending back home for the children and the person with the most Christmas spirit comes from the person they least expected.
“All right everyone, lets see those Christmas cards!” Hogan exclaimed as he rubbed his hands together. The men gathered about the table in the barracks and eagerly presented their drawings for their leader to critique.
“Very nice snowman, Newkirk. You can really tell he’s English.”
“Aw Sir, I’m touched you noticed!” replied Newkirk with a grin.
Hogan smirked as he said, “The flag is what gave it away.”
Looking at Kinchloe’s drawing, Hogan nodded in approval. “Very nice! Nothing says Christmas like a nice family gathering around the dinner table!”
Newkirk looked at the card and his jaw dropped a little. “Kinch, I never knew you were an artist!”
“It’s just a little something I picked up from my mother,” Kinchloe replied with a small, humble shrug. He gestured over at LeBeau. “Why don’t we see what you have created?”
“Ah, merci!” LeBeau picked up his drawing and showed it to the group. “No need for introductions Colonel, it is Christmas in Paris. You see the truffles here and the Eiffel Tower of course… but then you have the many cuisines that us chefs like to serve during this time of the year!”
“Excellent!” replied Hogan. “It looks like the kids will be getting some nice Christmas cards this year! Okay Carter, that leaves you.”
“It’s a Christmas cottage!” Carter declared as he held up his card. The gang tilted their heads a little and some even scrunched their brow in confusion.
“Uh, Carter ol’ chap, I don’t mean to knock your drawing abilities or anything but, doesn’t that look a bit like our happy little barracks?”
“See that’s just it!” Carter looked eagerly over to Newkirk, who still was as confused as ever to the meaning of the drawing. “You see, we’ve been here for a few years now and celebrated a few Christmases under this very roof. I figure, the kids we’re sending these to in England are under rations and might be thinking that this is a hard year. So the way I see it, if we can show them that we can still be a jolly bunch here, then maybe they will be able to rejoice in what they have as well!”
Smiles replaced the confused expressions and slowly the gang nodded. Newkirk was the first to speak. “Too right Carter me chum! That’s a brilliant idea!”
Hogan shook his head and patted Carter’s shoulder. “It looks like we have a new Santa Claus this year and his name is Andrew Carter.”
Carter blushed and dipped his head bashfully. “Aw shucks fellahs…”
