[Tutorial/FAQ] How to play videos with softsubs

I kinda assumed that everyone had the following players downloaded onto their computer, so you have my apologies. Please find below the instructions on how to play the subbed videos using VLC player/Media Player Classic.

Q: What are softsubs?
Soft subs (short for soft subtitles) are a separate subtitles file, which is not directly embedded into the video. There are various advantages associated with this: a viewer can switch off the subtitles if he chooses to, he can also edit the subtitles if he finds them too small or too big.

Q: Why do you release your videos with soft subs, instead of embedding the subtitles into the video directly?
To be honest, I am really bad at encoding stuff. I've had a few experiences with software which causes the audio to lag behind the video, so I prefer to skip the encoding process.

Q: How do I play your videos and ensure the subtitles show up?

Firstly, download the zipped file. It will contain 3 items: 1) The video itself, 2) The subtitle file and 3) The font pack (In this case, it's the OliJo-Bond TrueType Font file).

When you play the video file using either VLC player or Media Player Classic, the subtitles will automatically show up. If they don't, check the Subtitles option using the respective players and enable them.

Because I normally want my videos to show up in the same way on your computer as they do in mine, I normally attach a Font Pack. When you install the Font Pack into your computer, it will allow the subtitles to look the same size/font as they do on my computer.

In Windows, simply go to the Fonts section as shown below:

Copy and paste the Font Pack into the folder. (I can't give advice for Mac users because I don't use one. If anyone knows, please feel free to chip in!)
