The weekend, but first two things:

A) It sucks quite a bit that you cannot get either Hogfather or Colour of Magic from Amazon.ca OR Chapters. Sure, you can get it from Amazon.com, but they've started charging for duties EVEN THOUGH THEY SHIP FROM MISSISSAUGA.

B) Okay, yeah, we had fun at Trek. But the Fridge moment for that movie (which, admittedly, didn't hit me until Cynra & I ( Read more... )

None of the stuff that happened to the Romulans made sense.

Was it their star going supernova? OR a nearby one? IF it was a nearby one, how could it threaten them so immediately?

Did they just not notice it?

Why was the only option to have Spock drop some technobabble stuff into it? Why didn't they just get people off of Romulus?

Other than the fact one of the cornerstones of the plot doesn't make sense, I loved the film.

yeah, that makes a good point . . .

I did like how they called the supernova inducing/preventing stuff "red matter" as opposed to quantum tachyon phased induced macguffinized element X though

Yeah that was just some lazy writing there - they badly wanted to get from A to B and glossed over the getting-there part.

What I dislike most about TV Tropes is that Anime starts with A. If it was Zanime then the immediate examples beneath the text would be something that actually made some kind of sense to me.

Riddle me this. How does a supernova threaten the entire galaxy? Was it a super-supernova of the entire galactic core?

But I liked the movie.

Doug.

Some of the tropes allow you to collapse examples, which is a godsend to me.

Order your books from your local independent bookseller.

You don't get the Amazon discount, but you don't bay for shipping or duties either.

The only bad moment for me was the big bug creature attacking the smaller big bug creature, which is straight out of the Lucas Naboo Ocean Handbook. That creature moment bugged me, no pun intended.

The supernova bit was strained though, as I asked myself how a supernova that was not their home star could effect them so far as to swallow the planet within their super-sphere?
