I pretty much don't write here very much -- Or I haven't lately. But that's okay, cause I don't make nearly as much time to read either. I figure, six of one

I'm Francine White, a friend of Billy's. I live in Maryland, summer in Rehoboth and have known Billy for years. I happen to be a RN, so I was always riding Billy about taking care of himself, especially with the temptations and challenges the Dewey summers present. I remember him trying to take care of his Dad and himself, his first hospitalization, taking him shopping, to the bank and generally just listening and trying hard not to preach. I loved him and his writing. I remember being concerned when he wouldn't let me come, over and worse, when he wouldn't come out of the 'bat cave'. Stopping by unannounced, even when his car was there and he apparently wasn't, I felt good he was getting out. I wonder now if he wasn't just hiding from me. I've lost a friend, Dewey has lost a great son, The world has lost a really fine person.
I just stumbled on Billy's writings after seeing his name posted on The Starboard website when he passed and I googled him out of curiosity. I never met him although I have been spending summers in Dewey for years and I bet we stood at The Starboard together many nights.
I think his writings are amazing....I am wondering if someone will save this website and its contents?
Did you change some of the settings on your journal? It says I deleted you but, I didn't. When I try to add you back, it says your journal has been deleted, purged or, suspended?

Hi all, I am not sure who (if any) of Billy's friends might still visit here, but I just wanted to post a note here. Like Seaglass_lass, I still think of Billy often. They are wonderful memories of a true friend and I find inspiration in them as I found from Billy in life.
The last few months unfortunately I have found a new thing to remind me - I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in December. I am doing fine and my blood sugar seems to be under control and I have no complications. But as I learn about my disease, I think of Billy and what he went through and his spirit. I still wish I could have/would have done more to help him with his disease. I find inspiration in the way he maintained his spirit and outlook on life (usually - we all have tough days).
Anyway, I hope you are all doing well and will write at some point. After all, Billy may not be dancing with us now, but he is still with us helping us through the tough times and making us smile when we remember him (even if it is accompanied by some sadness as well).
