I find it completely hilarious that Daniel Radcliffe is playing "Edmund".

I adore the Simpsons' Treehouses of Horror. I can't believe this is the twenty-first one! I've seen them all as an adult old enough to drink. I'm really, really old ( Read more... )

I ADORE Raising Hope. I remember seeing the previews for it and thinking it was going to be AWFUL -- just another stupid sitcom about ignorant rednecks. But it turned out to be both hilarious and sweet. And Cloris Leachman makes me crack up pretty much once every episode.

I'm only commenting on your Angel meme stuff because I don't know any of the other shows (except BtVS and I'm not invested after season 3 for obvious reasons).

Yes on the character arc. Angel was destroyed as a character after his beige period. I could not accept how he basically kowtowed to the humans in case they abandoned him. This was an intelligent vampire; this was a dangerous vampire; this was a vampire with a constant internal battle to survive his baser instincts and it all went out of the window in favour of the fluffy bastardisation of the character.

So, Wesley was the only believable individual left by the end. His journey was coherent, tragic and inevitable. ♥

I love your icon! :D

Obviously, I agree with your POV. The writers sacrificed what was an interesting character on the altar of... I don't even know what. I imagine they were trying to make him more relatable to a broader audience, but I think they thinned him out into a comic book caricature of himself. Later in the series it was better, but there was no reason to go through that BS to begin with.

I wish the writers had held their nerve for longer. They started Angel on the premise that it was a more adult show than its progenitor, but in the end they felt that had to bring Spike in to boost the ratings from an audience who never knew what Angel had become. Thus they destroyed the sacrifices made by both characters and ended up with a show that ate itself.

Still, no other shows keep us talking after so long! 10 years. Some marriages don't last that long.

I did actually like Season 5, but I always found Spike and Angel's antagonism really hilarious -- probably because I was a huge fan of old school humor slash (like kita0610's Days of Our Unlives). BUT I agree with you that the show just wandered around for it's entire run instead of sticking to its original premise, and in the end had to change the entire format to keep it going. It was poorly planned, and honestly, I don't think Joss ever cared about Angel very much, and left it to the mercy of lesser minds, for which it suffered.

But I still ♥ Angel. ;)

Of course there are no girl geeks! Clearly we don't exist. And even if we did, it's not like girls *count* or anything. :/

So much yes on Faith.

Of course we don't. There are only thousands of us right here on LJ.

Faith rules. She is so my girl.

Those are good points -- and I do love Angel with all my heart, no matter what. I just hate what the writers did with that chunk of his arc in Season 3, making him look like a fool. Honestly, when it was happening, it was terrible shell-shock to suddenly go from this dark, dry-witted, self-deprecating character, to this grinning, giggly, pastel wearing dipshit. I was very, very angry about it back then.

That's why I wrote The Great Festival of Suck. ;)

yeah I did love the comments about his wardrobe in Universe of Suck. actually I just kinda loved it overall, as I know I've already said. Even the supporting characters -- your verse Cordy and Spike are so much cooler than TV Season 6/3 versions of.
