Dude, I don't get it. I mean... a creepy bipolar stalker vampire who doesn't even have FANGS, and a clumsy clinically morose doormat with no identity outside said creepy boyfriend, all wrapped in a terribly written, ridiculously twee universe? Why? WHYYYYY?

Yes. Sookie is better. And if you're talking to people who are more YA readers? I recommend L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries (which are being made into a Tween soap on the CW in the fall) and the Morganville vampires by my good friend Rachel Caine. They're similar kinds of tweeny love stories, but much better written, and with female characters who actually have a personality outside their boyfriends.

i have to admit i did read all the twilight books, because my niece asked me to. it was torture. the uglies series that she gave me was much better.
but my sister just loves it and refuses to watch true blood or read sookie stackhouse.
the SAD part is, the people i am trying to convert are from mid 30s to upper 40s. it is insane how much they love twilight.
i just dont get it..
i will pass the other series on to my neice, she loves the dark books like me ;)
