RIP Farrah Fawcett. Your hair made part of my adolescence a tiny slice of hell because it just. Wouldn't. Feather. But you were a fighter, and seeing Ryan O'Neil crying made me really sad. So... rest easy, angel

I am intrigued by the Vampire Diaries JUST BY THAT BANNER. I saw it the other day and I was like, "la la la, scrolling scrolling scro...what. was. THAT? *scrolls back up LJ* Why, hellooooooo there."
I am a little sad about MJ just because when I was totally in love with him from the time I was about 4 until I was about 7. I think the first huge fight I ever had with my mom was her not letting me go to see him in concert when I was in the first grade. LOL I do still dig his early music even though he creeped me out post-Bad. Creepy m-effer, but he WAS a musical visionary in his time.
Also HELLO TRUE BLOOD KINK!
And also <3 to you. Now that you have viable internets we need to have more of our chats!
Hee. I KNOW! I suspect the banner is WAY better than the show -- the trailers I've seen aren't nearly that hot. But I will watch *just on the off chance that we get some naked Ian Somerholder.* I am that shallow. *G*
I understand about Jackson. I mean, he was a big part of my adolescence -- I remember being on the bus to our junior high school singing PYT. But the latter years just completely ruined it for me. I don't fault other people for being sad, though. *hugs*
TRUE BLOOD KINK! Did you see my SQUEE group? It's just for the drooling and the YAY and the OMG! Without all that "Bill is better!" "No Eric is better!" "No Sam is better!" BS that's starting to plague some regular sites. At least, that's the way it's set up. *G*
*smooches you* Yes, please. I am trying to be better about writing every day, even if it's not really anything viable. I would love to start meeting again. I'm not really watching as busy during the week nowdays, so let me know when.
This is second hand but apparently some people are complaining that the warnings themselves are triggers. Just the words "rape, non-con, dub-con" etc.
I just...I just don't know. Damned if you do, damned if you don't!
I warn, I have since I was flamed for writing a rape and not warning. It's mostly for selfish reasons--because I freak over flames--but I don't see any harm in warning. Well, until now when it may be triggery itself.
Me, I like to read warnings to know what I'm getting into. I LIKE darkfics (duh) and so sometimes I want to read something incredibly nasty and dark and deadly and it's nice to weed out fics that way.
::but I don't see any harm in warning. Well, until now when it may be triggery itself.::
No. Warn. Always. If just mentioning the words triggers people, it won't trigger anywhere near as many as it would coming upon the scene (or even the build-up to the scene) without a warning, and for many, probably won't trigger anywhere near as hard.
Like I said to Laure -- it's better to err on the side of caution. I've been reading your posts on the matter, and so although I've always tried to warn, I thank you for reminding me that there's a HUMAN reason why. *hugs*
Oh, I'm not going to stop, it's just frustrating to think for ten years that you're doing the responsible thing and now to find out that doing that in itself may be a problem!
I've been working REALLY hard to keep my mouth shut about Michael Jackson, because I have friends who are DIE HARD fans, and I don't want to hurt them
( ... )
I love that banner! Now that's vamp sex! *fans self*
I put warnings for a few things, non-con, bdsm, and 3-way. Tho... does 3 way really need a warning? Hmm....
Angelus stories get just the warning that the story is about Angelus and he's EVIL. That should be enough, if the reader knows anything about the character.
Personally, I hate any more warning than that. I mean if I see "character death, rape, murder, violence, bad language, etc", why read the story? It's all in the warning. lol
See, I have friends who have serious emotional issues with things like rape and violence, and if they're reading a story and BANG something horrible happens to a character, it can really screw them up. I've always labeled because I want people to be able to decide ahead of time if what I'm writing's their cup of tea.
As far as Angelus goes? If anyone in fandom sees his name, I think they just assume that bad things are going to happen. *G*
I think my most important warnings are for fluff. It makes people ill, you know. ;)

I agree on the talk about the warnings as well. It wouldnt be hard to warn someone about it.
You know, the TV people, do that to annoy you.
