Town Hall Meeting 2.0

My fellow TATSonians...

At our last meeting we discussed ways in which to improve theair_thesun and shape it in the vision of its members: you lovely folks.  Everyone had so much to say and so many ideas on how to get the most bang for our buck around here (lol, i love that metaphor). So, let's give it another go!

Please, take this opportunity to share your ( Read more... )

In my opinion, those discussions should be handled like the normal discussion posts - everyone can start them. I think there are more possibilities that way.

I agree. But so far there hasn't been a member who's started a story discussion (that I can recall). So we're trying to figure out if its because people aren't interested in the discussions or because they think that they can't create the post. Or maybe people just aren't comfortable with starting one themselves. IDK.

lol, my room is such a mess too, bb. I have so much crap with nowhere to put it. I'm such a consumerist.

My only problem is my lack of memories and favourites.

Do you mean that you read the nominees and then forget which ones you liked the best? Because for the next round we're going to try and get the excerpts posted directly on the voting pages so you don't have to click a link and hunt them down for yourself. Maybe that will help.

Maybe one general post would be sufficient. One that the members can always come back to and add stories if they find new ones ( ... )

That's a good idea. Like the one they have on SOB.

Agreed!

Just gotta say that I'm glad the moments in these fics for The Underdogs is being copied right on the site as opposed to hunting it down. I had trouble with that, so this makes it SO much easier for me! Yay!

I'd love to take part in a Fic exchange. It will make me get around to some of the J/B stories on my list, if not everything else there too ( ... )

A personal favourite is a 'Five Things' challenge, so there's an idea.

Ooh. Thanks for the suggestion.

I like being able to look at the fics, though I wouldn't mind for there to be links on the winner pages.

Great idea. These are the types of things we need to know about.

I love 'Five' Things Challenges so there's a good chance I'll participate in the challenge if it ever pops up :)

And great :) I just spent the lat couple days going through all the winners so seeing links up for those and the next couple waves will be perfect. <3

I love drabbles. How do you come up with prompts? Do you make them before the beginning of each month or do you have a compiled list? I like the monthly schedule, better than anything. Lately there's been a thing called prompt requests and that worked better for some more than others. Something like that might help for choosing a drabble challenge prompts that would garner more participation ( ... )

I've seen this around. It is kinda hit and miss at different comms, but we could always give it a try one month to see how it goes. :)

maybe reaching out to a set group of tatsonians to post a list of five of their favorite fics per month?

That's a novel idea. Maybe if every other week we ask a different member to post some thoughtful recs and also invite everyone to post their own recs in the comments, more people would be inclined to participate. Hmmmm.

Also in another community I used to frequent they did this thing where everyone wrote one chapter of a fic. For example I would start a chapter, and pass it on to you, and so on and so on. I don't know how well that would work, and I didn't read the story because I never knew where to find the next chapter, but it's an idea that used in an organized and responsible manner might produce an interesting fic.

This is a VERY interesting concept. Will put some thought into this.

Random, but the best rec posts I come across are just when someone takes the time to compile a big list of their favorites with links to the stories (and usually a one or two sentence commentary on why they liked it).

I think that's important. If a story is in a long list of recs, you need to put a "reason why" with it to help differentiate it from the masses.

This is a non-tyrannical oligarchy. ;)

Lol are you kidding? Everyone knows I run this joint! It's my way or the highway BB :p

Um, Kelly, we're trying to lull our people into a false sense of security and freedom. Get with the high-handed program.
