Out in my backyard, I split the ends of firm sticks, one by one, gluing little bits of foam to the opposing tips. The longest, most flexible stick was split on either end, a bit of twine running along its length and tied firmly with two knots ( Read more... )

Thank you! I was a little worried it was going to be the done thing of the week, you know "no one understood me..." but I wanted to do something totally different from last week.

I loved the Dark Vader part. Sounds just like a little kid. This was really fun. Great examples of play and imagination.

I actually insisted it was Dark Vader for a really long time. I don't know why Darth wasn't acceptable but Vader was.

Thanks so much!

I get the impression silly, common boys haven't found much opportunity to correct you as an adult :P

I don't know about that! I still have no idea how to talk to boys!

I really enjoyed this one. I think you hit it out of the park. Love the Dark Vader and only knowing Clark Kent. Poor little thing wanted to play--ugly boys.

Well done.

Well, I was a little bit of a snot, too!

But that boy was a huge jerk, and he stayed that way for a long time.

Thanks! I'm not really used to writing personal memoir so I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I love this! Voltron rocked my socks! I always used to hate having to be Princess Leia. I wanted to be Han. Always.

I wasn't allowed to see Star Wars, so I didn't know who Han or Leia were. I sort of did, but I thought that Han's name was Hans.

I played Little House on the Prairie, though, and I always wanted to be Charles.

I always pretended to be John Boy from the Waltons. I had to play that by myself though, because it was WAY uncool. I was such a dork! Still am sometimes! :)

Oh man, I loved the Waltons. I had Waltons paper dolls. I don't remember if there was someone from the Waltons I pretended to be, though.

I was allowed to see the Flintstones, and I pretended to be Fred and made my father be Dino.
