Can Photoshop be destroyed? I'm so sick of people saying they're 'models' when all they do is take a few photos of themselves from flattering angles, photoshop them beyond belief and whore them about on their MySpace. Or saying they're 'photographers'. Anyone can make photos look good if they have a decent enough digital camera and can clean the ( Read more... )

people are cunts, interesting conversations, being pretentious, rants

I had a feeling someone might do that. Coming from a band that all look like models themselves, that's pretty ironic. Hey, do you reckon Rhys got all pissed with Chinman for insulting his brother indirectly?

...or that Rhys himself was a model?

You know, being a photographer is actually quite hard, you dick.

Why the rant, anyway?

HAHAHA RHYS WAS A MODEL? FOR REAL? HOLY SHIT HOLD THE FUCKIN' PHONE. TELL ME MORE O SAGE.

Being a photographer is not hard. Click. Done. See?

And the rant because people piss me off, especially people who claim to be artists despite having no meaning or soul to any of their work. :D

i don't believe anyone should be calling themselves a photographer or a model until they've, you know. got an agency or a paying job. or even some fucking artistic vision. i like photography. i think it's fun. i'm not an artist.

though, as someone with little to no money who owns both a digital camera and a few 35mm's, i have to say that paying for and developing film on a regular basis is a bit sapping. without custom processing, buying and developing one roll of film is a little over ten dollars. doesn't seem like much, but it does tend to add up. with custom processing, it's anywhere from twenty dollars to fifty, which is... sort of ridiculous. it'd be cool if we all had resources to set up our own dark rooms, but when it comes down to it digital photography is just simpler, all around. that said, i don't respect anyone as a "photographer" unless they know how to deal with a non-digital camera as well. talk about a cop out.

you probably already knew all that, sorry. *flails*

That's a very good point, and I do feel more kindly-inclined towards people who don't just use digital cameras. I'm mainly referring to people who use digital cameras and then just upload the pictures onto the internet; there's hardly any effort there, especially since most digital cameras now are altered to fix human error. It's also the unimaginative subject matter. If I see one more picture of a poppy field I'm going to upchuck.

As you say, photography is a good hobby, but I draw as a hobby and I don't call myself an artist in any sense of the word. I suppose it depends heavily on your definition of 'artist' but it definitely detracts when you can use programs like Photoshop to 'touch up' your work.
