Hi all,

There's been a bit of discussion behind the scenes here at the-safehouse about the community tags as they are at present. We have some ideas about changing them, and would be happy for any input from members.

It all sounds nice and logical to me. I went back and tagged a big comm a few years ago, and I know how much work it is, so thanks for taking this on. :-)

Glad for the vote of approval, ma'am! We've been discussing this for a while, just time and making decisions about what needs to be done first is daunting. We're lucky that the comm already has pretty excellent tagging thanks to previous mods, so we'll be able to divide the job into chunks. I don't think it's ever clear when these things are set up how long they will last or what directions they might go in.

I have a bit of a tendency to go overboard, and with just a short visit to imdb to check Martin and Lew's profiles had a list of over 60 possible tags. I don't think we'll end up with that many, and that's why there are generic tv and film, and stage entries for each actor, but I would not mind tagging all the more popular movies and tv series by name. For Martin, probably Ladder of Swords, JJD, George Gently, Apparitions, Macbeth, Rhodes, Doctor in the... For Lew, Cuckoo Waltz, Who Dares Wins, Jack the Ripper and Cluedo, anyway.

There's also the not-pros Proswatch tag which we don't plan on changing as it was a specific community activity.

Sounds like a good idea, and good balance between too many tags and too many entries per tag.

Sounds like a good idea. The more specific the tag, the easier it is to find something. Huge job, though - thanks for putting in the time.

Thanks, Kat! I started this morning. Changing the tags isn't difficult - I've spent about an hour on it this morning - the problem is stopping to read/watch the entries. I'd forgotten about that NAAFI canteen ad LC and GJ did, and ooh, bodiecuddle's vid of the priest and the merc.... I may be some time *g*
