Does spending money "minted out of thin air" help you pay your bills? Exactly where do you think those dollar bills you are circulating comes from? They Money Tree?? C'mon. Spending money IS helpful. This is a really simple concept. And it doesn't matter "where" the money comes from. Government money comes from the same printer as private sector money. And when the private sector is not spending, governments step in.

I appreciate your perspective - and even agree with some of it, to be sure - but the concern right now is that we have an economy with a demand problem, not a "Washington has a spending problem," problem. If the GOPs really believed this, they should have been outraged during the 1980s and 2000s, under Reagan & Bush. Rather, they were completely MIA - or, more honestly, as a lot they were all clamoring for more spending (and very often for their own porky pet projects back home ( ... )
