On Jan. 17, 2009, at 1909 UT, a meteoroid of unknown size hit Earth's atmosphere over Scandinavia and exploded with a thunderous, rumbling boom. The fireball was so bright it turned the nighttime sky blue:

Fortunately, I was too close to the ocean to be affected by this storm, except for getting soaked by plain rain. There have been some bad ice storms in the area, but I have never seen one quite like this in Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.
