So clinicals have been pretty fun! The way we have it set up is the first two weeks a partnet and I take care of one patient, but we can go around and help out any patient that needs help. But we only need to chart for one patient right now, which is pretty cool but the care plans are what kills us. Each care plan you write is about 15 pages long, ( Read more... )

And sadly, that's how pretty much all the nursing homes are... my great gram is in one, and she's so lonely, so we try to visit her as much as possible. just keep talking to them, trust me, they love it, ask them anything, they love to talk about the past... like my gram loves when i ask her what life was like in the 1920's lol

I know! thats exactly what i do..because its so depressing working with these residents and seeing how people just ignore them...today for example our instructor told us that we needed to head back downstairs by 930am to our meeting spot and when i was heading down there, there was this lady yelling at all the nurses to take her to the bathroom and they were all ignoring her and walking past her. I was like..what the fuck is wrong with you people?? so i took her and helped her to the bathroom. While i was helping her she just kept telling me about herself..it was funny..turns out the lady was 101 years old. I thought that was Badass

they're probably just waiting for her to croak or something... absolutely horrible. good job taking her to the bathroom!! too bad she probably doesn't have the strength to get up and pee on one of the nurses' chairs or something... lol

when you're done with your nursing degree... you should go back to the nursing home, talk to the boss and tell him/her that they need you, that their nurses suck, they'll probably hire you on the spot.
