I got accepted to Glasgow University! The e-mail just came out of the blue while I was at work, telling me I have to get in my second letter of recommendation and then I'm set. Congrats! If you go to Glasgow, you should visit the Carroll ancestral home.

Yes, we have a Carroll ancestral home somewhere in Scotland. I've never been myself, but I hear it's an, "Oh... it's a house" kind of experience.

You never know! The fun of distant ancestors is that the names are usually common enough that you might just luck out and find some other Carroll/Carol/Caroll/Carrols who have a castle.
