HOLY CRAP!

I got accepted to Glasgow University! The e-mail just came out of the blue while I was at work, telling me I have to get in my second letter of recommendation and then I'm set. Set as in,"the email contained a link to a page where you can request housing" set. I've been freaking out about it, and how I'm going to finish my other applications (if I even should) and make time for their answers without losing Glasgow. But I'm going somewhere! Hooray for me, and for Glasgow's application being so easy I finished it months ago!

I celebrated by not sleeping! Though I tried hiding out in my room so my roommate wouldn't notice when she got up. I've long since passed on the idea of staying up all night as being some kind of demonstration of dedication-- the reality is that it's just a superhuman act of procrastination.

It mainly happened because I was excited, and freaking out a little, and because the Oxford application is the paperwork that will not die. And a couple of Redbulls from the corner 7-11. (I'm only human.) The Oxford application is due today and the Statement of Purpose is still tripping me up. I'm posting from the Argo where I'm gathering information for the meat of the SoP: sucking up to the archaeology department. The two writing samples are more of less in the bag, though I hate having to suck it up on the one and submit it without a bibliography/works cited page.

But the thing that's finally sunk in -- and feels SO good -- is that Oxford can reject me all they want, it won't keep me out of the UK! It's a beautiful morning!
