We're still in our house, though we're all keeping our bags semi-packed... since naturally the meds, electronics, and daily grooming items had to be unpacked and used again after yesterday morning.
A cousin (whom was burned out of his home 2 years ago as well) lost his house in the Coffey park area of Santa Rosa (they keep showing it on the news casts since it's fairly safe to access and the gas mains were turned off this morning.) And a number of family friends lost homes as well.
But everyone I know in the evacuations areas are safe, and they got themselves and their domestic animals out safely Monday Morning.
And over a week later, we're still safe. And still in the house.
We're just today starting to unpack all the stuff we'd gotten ready to evacuate with last week. Even if every day we were all opening our small carry-on bags for meds and daily grooming items... and of course accessing the larger bags for silly things like clean underwear.
But Mom and Dad unpacked their mutual LARGE bag to night, and I unpacked the bag that had all my handmade scarves/hats/gloves... and the jackets (plus a board game that's been out of print for over 45 years but my whole family adores it.) I'll unpack my mementos and the photographs by the weekend. My large suitcase will be done tomorrow.
