How funny is it that the two actors previously on Firefly--who spent all their time traveling from planet to planet--are playing aliens here? Hee!

Yeah, I had a difficult time buying into Scott Wolf's character, too, because of the resemblance. It's distracting, but like you said, there's nothing he can do about it. Maybe if he'd had more time to express his frustration at being just the "pretty boy news reader" he could have pulled it off. Not much time for that, though, with everything else they needed to set up.

I'm thinking it's difficult to get into the Scott Wolf character is because he still looks like a kid (which may have been what Sandy meant).

As for Firefly, are you talking Alan Tudyk an Anna? From what I read on TWoP, apparently Morris Chestnut (Ryan) is a Joss Wheadon alum too.

Nope, it's definitely his freakish resemblance to Michael J. Fox that is bothering me.

I was thrilled to see Alan Tudyk, and glad to see him in the previews of upcoming eps so that it wasn't just a one-time appearance in the pilot. I love love love his stuff.

I didn't see the original miniseries, so I have nothing to compare it to, but they have certainly laid down a number of threads to develop. I hope it continues to be as good as the pilot. *fingers crossed*

I just saw a blurb on one of my RSS feeds that Alan Tudyk's character, which had been meant as a one-off, had been upgraded to recurring.

I loved the original mini-series. I've cried at the end each time I've seen it, not because the ending was particularly sad, but because the mini-series was over and I didn't want it to be. I still have the tie-in books.

I think I spent most of the episode playing "who's been in a SF TV show before." (Reference)

Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans (was on Lost)
Joel Gretsch as Father Jack Landry (was on The 4400)
Laura Vandervoort as Lisa (was on Smallville)
Morena Baccarin as Anna (was on Firefly)
Alan Tudyk as Dale Maddox (was on Firefly)

I never watched Lost, The 4400, or Smallville, so I was busy going, "That's Scott Hylands!" He played Father Travis. He's one of those Canadian actors who's been in everything at least once.
