I quite liked what you had of the Detective AU in your snippets post, it was good xD I understand what you mean though...about researching to make it realistic and whatnot :S I think I finally have my head around how I am going to do my AU so I am going to persevere with it for a little longer :) Hopefully you will get it to work for you or one of the new ideas will work! <3

I don't know about the signing. Every con seems to have different rules and procedures, so you should probably check. Some only allow photos from the con or the actor photos you buy (get?) with the price of a signing. Others let you bring whatever photos you want, or other items. (I just remember something over a con a while ago where you couldn't bring anything to sign except what was available at the con. Probably because someone brought something weird, I'm guessing.)
Anyway, if he was an author, I'd tell you to bring a favorite bookmark or something. Though I got Neil Gaiman to sign my wallet. It's something small and easy, and I see it every time I open my purse! Or how about a mousepad?
Hmm... okay. I'll definitely be checking. The rules and procedures don't seem to have a lot to say about the signing, but I might just have to do more digging... or just wing it :oP lol, of course someone would bring in something weird... but I guess the actors having their own pics to sign and hand out makes everything so much easier.
Having him sign your wallet is an awesome idea! And I like the mousepad idea, as well... both are something you're always basically gonna have with you. *ponders*
