rescue dogs, for the most part...

Howdy howdy howdy!  Okay, so I think I'm finally rested up. \o/  The past few days have been really crazy with work, but I'm feelin' energized anyway. Weird? Whatevs.

So my boss's new dog (foster dog, really) is really warming up to me.  My boss came back from her mini vaca today when I was at the house taking care of him and the other dogs she ( Read more... )

SPN connections, they're everywhere. Just yesterday I saw Jo on Lie To Me xD
\O/ Good for being rested up, hun.
Gah, that commercial sure does it's job, pulling at my heart strings like a pro. ;~; I only ever owned one dog and she came from a shelter. Great little thing even now when she isn't a puppy anymore but she still thinks she is. <3 Even though it's nice to look at animals from fancy shops I don't think I could ever actually buy one from there. I'd feel too bad for another pet I could have gotten from a shelter who needed my love more. :'C If I ever do go for another pet I'm searching the pounds and rescue shelters first.

They are! It's crazy, but so awesome :o) I saw Jo on Monk once and flailed for the rest of the episode haha.

Yes, Pedigree really did an awesome dog with their shelter dog commercials. Every single one makes me want to cry, huggle my dog, and run out to help others. Your dog sounds adorable! All dogs are really puppies at heart ;o) And yeah, it might be nice to look at the purebreeds/fancy dogs, but... if other dogs need help, why not help them? And same here... next pet I get, I'm going back to the rescue animals :o)

Aw, doggies. *wibble*

All my dogs have come from shelters and they've been the most wonderful friends a girl could ever have. One day when I have loads of money and free time I am going to do nothing but save animals and let them run around my many acres of lush countryside estate.

That's fabulous. I feel like shelter dogs can make the best pets. And that sounds like a more than awesome plan. If I ever get land I'm planning on doing the exact same thing. They deserve nothing less :o)

Yay for being rested up! :D And feeling energised is good too! xD

All the dogs my family have ever owned have come from shelters except for my aunt's labradoodle. I always feel so sad that there are so many dogs and cats in shelters that need homes and I am always shocked at the things that happen to them too (our dog had 4 homes before he came to us, 4! and he was only 16 months old when we got him--and he can be a cantankerous old bugger but otherwise he is lovely ;))

Aww I feel every sympathy for you with no internets at night :S *pats* But yes, you should get some writing done ;) (says she who has a pile up to her eyeballs to work on...)

I love when people from one show turn up on something else xD

:oD It feels good to be up to full energy for once :oP

That's fabulous. My dog was in a puppy farm before we got him :o/ It is really sad, and most people don't know what goes on with shelter dogs, which is a shame for getting the animals help. That's really sad with your dog. I'm really glad he finally found a home with you guys :o) And hey, being a cantankerous old bugger just means he has ton of personality!

Hee, yes... I think both of us have piles of writing to catch up on :oP We can do it! At least no internets is good in that sense lol.

Sorry, I'm very late to comment on this, but I couldn't let it pass without adding my agreement. This is something I get on my soapbox about an awful lot, with dogs (my two are rescues), horses (all 5 are rescues) or any other animal at all. All of ours have been from shelters or animals that we've personally rescued, whether domesticated or wild. We currently have 2 pigeons, one was an injured racing pidge we found exhausted near our barn and the other was a week-old baby feral pidge who was abandoned by the parents (unusual for pidges, I think they were confused by his independent behaviour). They are amazing and live in my daughter's bedroom; large aviary is pending, meanwhile they exercise in the bathroom (neither can fly). My particular bugbear is breeding; both my dogs were breeding bitches from puppy farms and came to us in an awful state, bred until they dropped. Two of my horses were neglected brood mares, chucked out when they could no longer produce foals. It makes me furious and I feel so demoralised every time someone I ( ... )

It sounds like you have a lot of great animals, and treat them extremely well! And yes, I totally agree about the breeders. We rescued my first dog (a greyhound), and then all our other animals have been rescued from one place or another. It doesn't make sense when people seek breeders out when they could rescue an animal that desperately needs a home. Especially since a lot of breeders don't know what they're doing and/or don't care about the dogs, just the money. It's horrible. And you have no way to tell whether a breeder is good or not (or, at least, most people don't know the bad signs to look for or don't care enough). And in my experience, rescued dogs and other animals have always been a lot sweeter or better tempered than dogs from breeders... people should really be made more aware, and it's sad that they aren't. Yes, it might be a little more work to rescue an animal, but so much more rewarding. Lol, I'll get up on that soapbox with you ( ... )

I think from comments I've read on other authors' journals, there would be a lot of support for an animal rescue AU! Thanks for getting up on my soapbox with me, I totally agree about the personality of rescued animals; I think it's because they're people and they actually understand what rescue is; just because they can't vocalise it doesn't mean they don't have the intelligence to get it. Yeah, breeders usually haven't a clue, it's just a business to them.
