I should probably mention that I'm back, yeah?

We landed on Saturday and I've been kind of busy since then. Firstly I left my laptop in the airport lounge (the hubs had been carrying it for me) and didn't realise until we'd gone through the gate. They wouldn't let me go back for it, and by the time we landed at the other end, it had disappeared. Sometimes you just have to hate people. Also we ( Read more... )

Aw, big hugs. Traveling is so stressful and it is always good to make it home. I'm sorry about the laptop... New York? They probably brought out a SWAT team for it. With any luck, it might still make it's way back to you.

Best wishes to your mom for a quick recovery. Feel better.

Thank you for the best wishes, my mum is doing well. As for my laptop *weeping quietly* I doesn't look like it was there long enough for security to notice. And we were in the exec lounge too, so some well-travelled, likely well-compensated business person more than likely nicked off with it. That bastard. I've changed all my passwords, and that's all I can do :(

You would not believe what happened! Seriously! We had *just* gone through the gate when I realised, but instead of letting my husband run back on his long legs to quickly grab it, a well-meaning but incompetent air stewardess went instead, inevitably couldn't find it, and then came back and said, don't worry, just call lost and found when you land. WAAAAAHHHHHH WHHHHHHYYYYYYY :(((( The flight was seven hours, of COURSE it would still be there when we reached the other end! If she had just let the hubs go it would have been twice as quick and a hundred times more productive.

I changed all my important passwords and stuff, but I'm just so bummed about the writing I lost. GAH! People really suck sometimes.

I think I did mention this already in Tumblr (?), but for any writing 'backup' I would warmly recommend GoogleDocs or Dropbox. Both are free to a certain amount of bytes (above which they cost), but for example for work in progress that is more than needed (I have all fanfic I have ever written, in many versions (betaed & non-betaed), and lots of images and gifs, and still my GoogleDocs hasn't run out of space!). I back-up stuff occasionally to my laptop but I work exclusively using GoogleDocs folder ( ... )

I love Dropbox and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The file on my computer that I can use just like My Documents is the clincher. I have a small personal file in my Dropbox with my fanfic and fragmented original stories.
