The second half of my vacation was spent with my mother and her partner.  This was the first time I'd seen their house. I was really impressed. It's super cosy and comfortable.  The pellet stove is very much like a fireplace.  It was nice to sleep where I could see a fire burning.  It felt so Christmasey

That's awesome. Sometimes it seems like one of the gifts of getting older, for those of us lucky enough to have a parent who is doing self-work as well, is getting to develop a better relationship with them. It's neat being able to relate to them more as equal adults, without having the parent/child dynamic clouding things as much.
