He did, however, pick up a bag of M&M's. If they were pink and red, well, it tasted the same to him. He'd dropped off a bag for Ruth, figuring she'd like some sweet, given her current state.
He knocked and let himself in. "Hey. Smells good in here." He licked his lips. He'd finally gotten used to a schedule of sorts - or would once he met the new contractor. Seemed like he was going to have a different boss, one who contacted Jack directly. He wasn't sure how he felt about that, but was grateful that he still had a job with Jack, in any case.

He grinned at his best friend. "How's life, man? Work treating you well?" He was really glad to see Max. He knew his best friend would distract him from musing over the email he'd gotten earlier.

"Hey. Good, good. Ruth's moved, did I tell you? Turns out my job has a garage apartment and she was agreeable to Ruth renting from her." He grinned. "Got most of the repairs done, now that the weather's holding. Should be starting with the crew for the rest of the work soon." He shrugged. "How's business? No new death disasters lately I hope." He kidded.

"She is? Good for her. Bet life is a little more calmer now, isn't it?" Jay had liked Ruth but mm, the situation from what he understood it to be was a difficult one. "That's good. So everything is straightened out and all's good. Where are you working again? " Jay asked as he took a sip of his beer. He was sure that Max had told him, but his memory was sort of coming and going right now. He blamed the weather. This kind of weather always made him more susceptible to the fibro brain fog.
"No new death disasters, not like Johnny. And it looks like Peter Parker's going to be taking Johnny's place on the team." Jay shrugged, "Other than that, business is good. Got someone looking at an overhaul of the website, which is awesome and needed."
