Wow. She looked amazing. Again. He pushed away from the car and smiled at her. "Good evening. Ready for the movies?" There was a double feature of some great classics out at the drive-in. He thought it'd be a good date to take her on. They were showing The Court Jester and Brigadoon this weekend. Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon was the next weekend, and he was planning to go to that as well. If tonight went well, he might have some company there too, hopefully.
He went around to open her car door for her. Because that's what you did for ladies you took out to movies.
"There's a double feature tonight, The Court Jester with Danny Kaye and then Brigadoon." Jay told her after he started the car. "We don't have to stay for both but I figured I'd leave it up to you."
She couldn't stop the flush at the admiring glance Jay gave her, glancing down briefly before looking back up to meet his eyes. "Good evening." Her smile stretched wider as he opened the car door. "Why thank you, kind sir," she said as she eased in.
"Brigadoon?" Maureen's voice was soft. "I haven't seen that in years, but it's my favorite." She gave him another smile as he started up the car, crossing her ankles and leaning her head against the back of the seat as she relaxed.
Jay grinned over at her. "Is it now? Lucky for me then. I'm just a sucker for good classic films and seeing them at the drive-in is just a fun experience, I've found."
He waited half a moment or so before opening his mouth again, "You look beautiful tonight." Because well she did and he just couldn't not tell her that.
"They've got some pretty amazing concessions too, the new owners of the drive-in have really done a lot to make it a fun place to go to." Jay mentioned as they drove. "They do classic movies on the weeknights and one weekend a month and then a mix of family -friendly and spooky and romantic movies the rest of the time. "
Maureen felt herself blushing and kept her face turned away, hoping that he wouldn't see it. "Thank you." She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. "You look quite dashing yourself."
"It sounds... Perfect." Amazing, really. She thought back to her time with Piers and their first date. How uncomfortable she had been at the restaurant. This felt like the exact opposite, comfortable and easy. "So... Apparently you know a friend of mine," she said, smiling slightly. "Well, employ, to be more precise."
